not a Y in sight!
my brugling garden
They all look nice and healthy Kell! Maybe soon the Y's will be coming along.
Very very nice! Hope you get some beauties from them.
Looking very good Kell. Most of my seedlings have started to Y now. They did it very short this year. Still, I can't wait to see them all bloom, even if I throw most or all of them away. Will just have to wait and see.
Looking great Kell!!the one on the right sure has some nice serration!
No way Brugie? Ill compost some of your rejects for sase later if you are feeling energetic enough to pack em? Do you water garden? I have some hardy waterlily tubers I could send to boot? *I dont have much to offer in trade:S * Kell maybe what they need is some Y yoga? you know, you could sit in the middle and make a Y with your arms--------breath in ---------Y out YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY lol
They look really good Kell, so green.
Gosh tonight and yesterday I have been potting up 4 inch brugling that were germinated at the same time as those in the garden. I had to leave suddenly and did not get to plant them, so I am catching up now. They are only still about 10 inches tall compared to those in the garden which are getting over 4 to 5 feet. I could not believe the difference. Now the ones in the 4 inch pots were never fertilized, were in 75% shade but none were root bound. AMAZING the difference!
They all look great kell,I put my seedlings in the garden but didn't weed it,the weeds tried to kill of the seedling but I weeded and I can actually SEE them!
They look puny next to yours......
Kell, your seedlings look great and are so green and healthy. I agree that it is amazing how much faster and bigger they grow when they are set free in the ground.
Your bed looks great Kell. Those plants should Y for you soon.
Shirley, mine started to Y as well at about 3 feet(90-110cm) and I even have a bud on one,but finding them mixed in with all the Mirabilis and Malva that reseeded itself is another story.
lol Gwist I have been Mg my seedlings alot * sometimes everyday * and watering heavy, but the crazy giant zinnias are everywhere and they like it too---hate to pull them up but have had to trim them to give the brug seedlings some space.
I didn't have the heart to pull out every seedling either playsndirt, and somewhere buried under all those Brugs and other flowers is a Crinum begging for a bit of sun, lol.
my volunteer pumpkins are growing so huge that I had to wade in there * its scary too* and dig up 7 roses because they were being smothered and then TRY to find spots in other beds that werent FILLED with volunteer zinnias, cleome and of course brug seedlings lololol. need more space.
Plays, the reason most or all will be thrown away will be because they don't meet the criteria for a "good brug". If they look like others that are already names is another reason to toss some. I will only keep something different from what is already out there or possibly if one has really good genes and could be used for future hybridizing. There are plenty of good, already named brugs out there and most people will share with you. Any of my seedling kept, will be raised one more year to be sure they are what I want them to be and then I will share or toss. If you still need cuttings this fall, email me privately and I'll see what I can do to help you with some named ones.
Shirley
awww shirley you guys have really been wonderful, named brugs are great, but honestly---Im tickled to death with the thought of brug blooms period--I cant wait to see how it will change the profile of my garden next season when they are more mature.
Your bed looks great Kell. Nice and healthy and it looks like you have lots of variation in the leaves as well. Was this on a multihybrid cross involving more than 2 species?
There are about 8 different crosses in there Eric. I am so hoping I get lucky with at least one. I would justlove to name one!
