What is this???

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I've been invaded by these nasty little beetle-ish things. Does anyone know what they are? There's a couple of brugs they really like.

Accckkkk....are they good bugs, or bad ones? Doesn't look like they are eating? Maybe they are only looking for the bad bugs? Sure hope so. Have never seen either of them.

I think I've found an ID. Tarnished plant bugs http://images.google.com/images?q=tarnished+plant+bug&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search They're certainly doing some damage. I think the sudden infestation might be because they just hayed the field next to me. All the bugs have moved into my garden. Looks like I'll have to start spraying for these nasty critters.

Good Luck with them!

Ugly bugs!! What are you going to spray them with?

What kind of camera do you have Poppysue? i can see the brug hairs so clearly! not to mention that weird bugs second set of eyes lookiNG backwards.

I'll spray with Sevin and see how that works, since that's what I have on hand. These brugs sure attract bugs. I just squished as many earwigs as I could find. There's also a ton of leafhoppers on them. You'd think with all the sprays & fertilizer nothing would want to eat them.

Kell, It's a Nikon Coolpix 2500. I just got it about a month ago. I really like it.

Thanks Poppysue. I was looking at a small Nikon the other day. I will have to really look at the Nikons more. I have been tending toward te Canons. But your cloe up is great!

disgusting hey sue? that first one is a real nasty ugly bugger. good luck with the sevin. i've found that my brugs attract insects like crazy. the poor things have holes all over the place. i sprayed them down with gardens alive
Bulls-EyeTM Bioinsecticide
Targets garden troublemakers but leaves their natural enemies alone

we'll see how it works. so far it killed the little green worms on my cherry tree, and these disgusting little brown soft bodied bugs with a black head that are in groups under the brug leaf and munch away. they are about 1/8" long and gross of course! have no idea what they are. but they are gone now. :)
good luck!
