perennial in my zone?

What herbs are perennials in my zone? Anybody growing close to me that could share their experience?

TIA

Jenn, in culinary herbs, I keep French tarragon, sage, marjoram (greek oregano), chives, rosemary, thyme, and a couple others. Since parsley is a biennial, I plant new ones every year, usually 3-4 plants as I use a lot for garnish. I usually can get some parsley off the old plants in the spring before they bolt and before the new plants mature enough to cut. Rosemary is not supposed to survive the winters here but mine were 5' tall this year and I decided to move them. Bad choice, so I will have to start again.

Chamomile comes up but not enough to use, and of course, mints.

I have lavendars, santolina (grey and green), elecampagne, betony, and no doubt other herbs that I don't use but just like the plants. They all do well here andd I'm not much cooler than you are.

Thanks darius! I thought I put this thread on my watch list, but must not have, and didn't see your response until now ... :) Looks like I can plant just about all the herbs I like, and keep them as perennials ... excellent!

Some herbs by nature are annuals....and many willself-seed.

For example, cilantro loves the cooler weather.

Here in 8a it should be planted in late september.

It will be great all winter, even in ice storms, and then will bolt and reseed in the warmer months, and then come back up at the right time inthe fall.
