daylilies and brugmansia

Willacoochee, GA(Zone 8b)

check out my page:
www.deeprootsnursery.com for swapables...

any and every named bruggie or daylily I am looking for.
I figure we'll work out the swaps now, and do the actual swapping in sept-oct when it's a lil cooler.

thanks!

Deeproots: I got to your nursery page. Didn't find any swappables. Where are they??

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey Drew!
I looked too. The nursery link won't work and I couldn't find daylilies at all.

Gilmer, TX

Found what you have, except the daylilies, but couldn't find what you are looking for. Found several things of interest.

let me clarify:
I am willing to swap anything on my page for named brugmansia and daylilies.
this is why I wrote:

Drew, I'm going to go out and see what daylilies I can divide and share with you at the swap in October. When I get it together, I will send you a list. I don't have hundreds of daylilies like some do, but I've got a few. Linda

LOL That is why I was looking for the list of which daylily and brugs you wanted!

Alpharetta, GA(Zone 7b)

Drew, I have daylilies that people identified on davesgarden site etc? Does that count for named day lilies?

Willacoochee, GA(Zone 8b)

well the thing is, I will eventually resell them... so I'd like to be fairly certain of type.

I think DG id's should be fine... as long as there isn't much doubt... I'd hate to be giving/selling something improperly id'd

I have Whiskers, Equador Pink, Charles Grimaldi, Cypress Garden, Jean Pasko, Shredded White, Versi Apricote and Suaveolens variegata. If there's any one of them you don't have, I would like to get your 4 different Cupheas.
We can trade at the GA fall swap.

I have about 150 named daylilies, but unfortunately there is some rust starting out there. If I was going into the nursery business in this day and age, I would stay far away from daylilies.
It is just not worth it to me to have to spray expensive fungicides every one to two weeks. Mine are pretty and bloom like crazy, but I'm about to dig up 15 huge clumps and throw them out this weekend. It's the kind that gets it worst.
This is the second year I'm getting hit and it always starts with the heat and humidity.
Just thought I warn you before you invest too much time in Daylilies.

Gilmer, TX

Oh good, I'll get out there and see what brugs I have. Only ID'd daylily I have is Stella o'Doro. I was interested in two of your brugs and a number of your mints.

Willacoochee, GA(Zone 8b)

well I do indeed have an established nursery, with fairly regular clientel...
thing is, this year, three nurseries within 20miles went out of business, they used to do alot with daylilies and I always refused to grow them on account of that. (flooded market, bad prices, little to no profit)
anyway,
3 years without a daylily on the farm.
I've finally caved to customer pressure, thats all :p
Thats also why I'm wanting to trade for them, I really have little interest in investing much money into them.

the brugmansia i'm really into on account of the variation that is seriously lacking locally.
some 'really good nurseries' here have three kinds of brugmansia. White, yellow, and pink :P

Paintedlady, do I need to drive over to your house and fix up your daylily bed??? I'll do it for two starts of each, hehehe!!!

thanks all... I'm going to need a notepad for this plant swap in oct

Hi, I would have Puddin and Gentle Shepherd, how many plants would it take to get the Chocolate collection. ? If interested I will mark them.
I checked on the Puddin and it matched the photo, I purchased Gentle Shepherd from local nursury- But the daylilies that I sent out today with the name I got in trade did not match the photo, so will have to contact the traders to let them know,..Drat!!!!!!!!

Willacoochee, GA(Zone 8b)

chocolate collection?
ohh thats my wife's business... I can't trade her products!!!
she'd prolly kill me :P

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

The only daylily that I have that will need devided would be Happy Returns--lemon yellow--repeat bloomer. I will have brugs to trade, like Maya and others.
I would be interested in your Artemesia Absinthium, Artemesia Vulgaris Mugwort and Iris-Germanica Var Florentinia--Orris Root.

I'd be happy to trade Brugs you do not have for as many varieties of Buddleia as possible.

Willacoochee, GA(Zone 8b)

happy return? sounds good.

DeepRoots,

You wouldn't be interested in some Purple D'oro, Stella d'oro and/or Mini Stella daylilies, would ya? That's the only named varieties I have to divide right now. I'll be digging and dividing in a week or so.

I've promised some to mesemb, but there should be enough for two, I would think.

No need to drive here for daylilies. Several kinds of mine are going in the trash. To me daylilies are no fun anymore since I don't want to trade anything that has rust.

I just brought the subject up to warn you, since you are in the same area. There are two big daylily nurseries here that I know have had rust and they have to constantly spray now (regular cheap fungicides don't work, you have to use BannerMax or something similar at about $100/pint). I have also seen potted daylilies in regular nurseries with the same problem.

I was really wondering if you wanted some of my Brugs.

Willacoochee, GA(Zone 8b)

yeah, i'm interested in them... especially that 'whiskers'

I'm sure I can find a way to handle the daylilies...
I mean, I specialize in Pelargoniums... thats unheard of in this area. So either:

a. I'm a really great plant grower
or
b. I have a serious mental illness.

either way, it makes for great conversation.

The two are not mutually exclusive ya know ... ;)

I have no doubt you can handle the daylilies (ask Vi, sometimes it's hard to understand what I'm getting at, LOL).
And now that you mention it, I do wonder how you can grow Pelargoniums in this area. Any one I have tried just rots when it rains like crazy.
Do you have little umbrellas over them?

I have a Whiskers rooted, if it doesn't get too big for the pickup I'll bring it to the swap. If too big I will make another one.

Willacoochee, GA(Zone 8b)

naw... I just got a thing for Pelargoniums...
I have found many that do well in the gardens here, and many that well, just don't.
the key for me was a REALLY well drained soil and just watering once every other day in hot weather. Also the light issue is key with them... they like alot of light, but hate high leaf temps, so getting them shaded after 2pm after april is important.
