My sweet Emma loves to chase bees and flies and butterflies, she gets stung all the time, at least twice a week, but just won't leave those bees alone. On Sunday, we were out in the yard and she was running around like a goofball as usual, then I noticed the right side of her muzzle was swollen to about 4 times the normal size, she had been catching bees again, and got stung on the mouth. but this time was different, she started scratching and licking herself all over, then within minutes everywhere on her whole body broke out in hives and she got a big swelling on her neck about the size of a tangerine. She turned all white and cold for a few minutes, there were so many hives that they started growing together into huge lumps the size of walnuts, I had just seen a show the night before on anaphylactic shock so I knew what was happening and what to look for, I was so scared, it was difficult not to panic, I love her so much..I got some antihistamine into her, it wasn't easy because her mouth was so swollen, first I couldn't find any, then I had to crush it up and mix it with water and squirt it in the good side of her mouth with an eyedropper..I was one zillionth of a second away from rushing her to the emergency room if her heart rate or breathing changed at all, but her color came back and she slowly recovered. I was a wreck for the rest of the day though. Sure enough, the next morning, there she was again at her favorite flower bed, ready to chomp on bees again, now I'm worried that it will happen again when I'm not around! Has anyone else ever experienced this?
