These gingers have grown about 7 feet tall and are putting on an awesome display.
Something to brighten my day and smells Divine
Beautiful picture Barb. Are there any gingers that are hardy to zone 5 that you know of?
Shirley, not that I know of. You would need to grow them in pots and take them into gh. I have never heard of any that are hardy to that zone, but I may be wrong.
Wow Barb,Dreaming here!
Looks like I need to make a trip to Barb's!! Lovely!!

flicker
what about zone 7?? that is such a cool plant, does it come from seed--cuttings or what? tell me tell me tell me? please even? cheryl
Cheryl... gingers grow from rhizomes. also seeds but seeds takes a long time before it blooms. i guess u can also grow ginger plants in ur area provided u dig up the rhizome during winter time. that is what i do each winter. then replant them again when the weather gets warmer the following year.
White Butterfly Ginger is hardy here in zone 7a.
Barb, those are gorgeous!
Flicker - I have what I believe is the same plant & I did notice a hummingbird flying around it just two days ago. I think I can find the name for you, if you like - if it is still legible. Its dark now so it will have to wait till tomorrow.
The ginger is either Hedychium Sherry Baby or Shurei.
Awsome picture, I sure hope mine put on a show like that.
