Arborea pods

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I have some new pods on my arborea which I pollinated with my pink vulcanicola. See the ones that have dried up? I guess I should open them and just see if there are any seeds but since that happend in the last 5 weeks I doubt they could have any seeds. Those are my second set of pods that dried up.........so sad!

See, you can go away and everything takes care of itself........more or less. Such good pics. Those things should have something in them!

Kell, it won't hurt to open them and see. If they aren't any good you can just toss them.

Well inquiring minds want to know!

Is it possible your hubby was so bored he was out there like a wild man pollinating??? LOL

Kell, my aborea pod fell off early when I brought it out to harden off. It was maybe two months old, or so. I planted the unriped seeds immediately and I have two sprouts coming. Mine is plain ol aborea x aborea. The sang pollen didn't take so I pollinated the second bloom with itself.

They sure are cute pods. So different from the other kinds.

Kell, the remaining pods ~ did they set themselves or did you pollinate them? My arboreas just self.

LOL Liz, what dumb thing I did I beleive is not mark the ones I pollinated with the pink Vulcanicola but did mark the ones I did with orange sang! So I have no way of knowig for sure. However, it blooms all the time and the only time it has set pods in the past is when I pollinate it, never on its own.

Do you know how long arborea pods take to mature?

I am gong out to pollinate soon for I have fresh L'amour pollen and RK pollin but for a change I will have my labels in my hot litle hand and leave nothing for my memory even for 1 minute!!

Kell, they take 4 months, almost to the day.

Kell, are you going to pollinate your arborea with Rothkirch and Lamour pollen? Sue hope you get even just one seedling to inspire us with if you do. I know Monika was successful in crossing a suaveolens hybrid to one of her arborea's so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Gee Eric, should I? Why not? LOL. I will do it in the morning.
