Common name: Shasta Lily
Family: Liliaceae
Genus: Lilium
Species pardalinum ssp. shastense

This is unusual?? Not a tiger lily exactly either.
Appears to range from Klamath to Sierra Nevada (Northern California) at altitudes above 3,000 ft. "It can be common locally." A related subspecies (ssp pitinense 'Pitkin Marsh Lily' in Sonoma County) is endangered.
Some good information at http://www.lilyseeds.com/wacult.html about native lilies.
Thanks, George, how did you acquire yours? Is there some nursery who specializes in native plants?
I did not acquire this, it was growing wild on some land a friend owns. There were not a large number, so I left them alone. The link above seems to carry seed, although not in stock at this time.
hi PotEmUp,
Were you able to go back and collect some seed? Or will you this coming season?
This is an exciting lily.
