insects in water feature

I turn off the little pump at night in my old fashioned barrel and pump, water feature.. this morning it is full of little swimming insect creatures. I have a water plant and a ceramic frog in there. I put in clorox and some vegetable oil. They are still alive and kicking lilke crazy. HELP

misquitto larvae (bad spelling but you get the idea) Is it too small for a water feature for a small fish? If so get yourself a "dunk". Home Depot, Lowe's, WalMart, etc. all have them. Just break off a piece and it will kill them. I use it...love it!!

Sledder, do I change the water, it has clorox in it, I think I can scoop out the vegetable oil or just get the :dunk: and go for it Thanks

do you have fish in this feature? Any plants? And how much water are we talking? You know, I'm thinking change the water which I normally don't suggest but since you've put something in the water that I'm not familiar with using I'd change the water. Please let us know how it turns out!!
