Have you tried roasting any of the beans to make your own coffee???
Hmmm. Well, it would be great to see a flower or two first, then we can dream of having an early morning cuppa.
Do you know how old (or how large) the plant has to be before this could happen? I guess that in our temperate climate we might have a long wait.....
I honestly don't know how long it takes to mature and bear fruits/beans. But it would really be cool to grow your own cup of joe!
that plants old enough....
but remember in central america, the flowers start in sept, and berries do not form until january.
I find on my plants, I get alot of 'aborts'
irregular temps for instance tend to drop the berries.

Thanks for the info Drew. I guess we will just have to enjoy watching it grow since, I dont think we can simulate the climate of central america in our conservatory. Still, just one flower would be great.
Hi Jack, could you tell me if you have growth this plant outside during the entire year? what about minimum and maximum temperatures?
...now I have 15 seedlings with 2 / 4 /6 leaves in an old acquarium with Silvania GRO Lux, 15 hours of day/light, and I'm just curious to know if I have any chance to grow them outdoor during next winter (of course, I have to proceed gradually before...).
Many compliments for your plant!
Fabrizio, Italy
Hi Fabrizio,
Our coffee plant is kept in our conservatory all the year round. We certainly would not risk growing it outside in England - it gets far too cold.
If your Italian climate is OK (North or South ?) then I would suggest trying some of your plants outside.
Nice to hear from you.
