Doc what a great picture I love the flag in the background.

Thanks Mystic! It's from out front, have you seen a bloom change like this?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

nice recurve root!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Suess does that Doc and I'm almost sure that is what it is. The recurve will probably be gone tomorrow. I hope not and that I'm wrong about it being Suess because I'd love to see one that held that recurve all the time.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

It probably is Suess, sure is lemony smelling,I was wondering if it might be this blistering heat?

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Brugie, does Dr. Seuss smell like lemon? If is does, then the one I have is not Dr. Seuss.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Doc they all amaze me when blooming. I can't get over how the buds start out one color and then they open a different color and just keep changing. They are always changing. Whatever it is Doc enjoy!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

No, Frannie, it doesn't, but I don't have anything else to compare it to and the leaves and recurve look like Suess. Doc, you still need to have your DW give it the smell test.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

It's pretty Doc no matter what it is.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Might be sunray it smells lemony and has the heavy toothed edges..

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I have a sunray right next to it budding so I will find out soon, does not look dark enough to be DS to me.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Root, your brug blooms look great to me but then I am so new to brug growing that I can't tell one from another!!!Why do you suppose earwigs would eat my green castor beans (seeing yours in the background reminded me) and hardly touch the red ones growing about 5 feet away. Donna

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Well, now I'm totally confused. I can't say what Suess smells like, but I wouldn't call it vanilla. It is a very strong smell though. Try crossing this one with Sunray when it blooms and see if you get a pod. You will have to pollinate several flowers to be sure, but that is one way to rule out it being a SR if it sets seed.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Shirley I would not call it Vanilla either, you asked me to have her smell it,LOL!she looked at me like I was nuts,it smells like a Brug!LOL!
I think it smells like lemon pledge!
I guess I will have to figure out how to cross and get one of these pods I am always seeing, what should I do,cut a bloom open early and cut the stamines of and freeze them?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'll email you. It is easier. Maybe someone else will answer tonight, but I'm tired so tomorrow...........

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Got it S,Thanks, gosh you sure you guys want me crossing Brugs?Never know what I might think up,LOL!
