Can anyone recommend a banana that won't take over my yard? Banana trees grow like weeds here and my DH is not totally convinced that I could keep them in check. I live inside the city where the houses are very close together and I don't want to cause a problem for my neighbors. I would like something that bears fruit but it's not necessary. I just love the look of the foilage!

Hi Lisa, thanks a buunch! Where did you get yours? I checked with Stokes and on eBay but they don't have it. Do you know of another nursery that carries bananas that I could try or does it have another name?

dunno, hadn't figured that one out yet..lol. I suppose they have pups, but just not like other 'nanas. The couple I have has not had any pups on top the ground. One is big, the other is only about 3 feet or so.
Mary ann, I got mine from one of our suppliers in New Iberia. I don't know if they have any left, they were not listed on my availability list this month. I will keep an eye out and let you know if some come up for sale. Are you going to the big Bot. Garden Tropical Sale this weekend?
Yes, I'll be there bright and early. I can't believe it's only for 2 hours! I'm hoping they'll have bananas, gingers, and elephant ears and maybe some new things that I've never seen before. What about you?
