This is the best picture I could come up with.
These ants just started to harvest scale on a
Archontphoenix Tuckeri seedling. This is the underside and they have left the seedling next to it alone.
I got rid of them with bug-b-gone but ants are everywhere in the yard. I don't mind them so much but they can be a pain in the butt. I think I am going to resort to chemical warfare at least on my plants and growing areas.

Tom, that's a great picture. Is it an armored scale?(I don't know my scale bugs very good)but our soft scale doesn't have 'bumps'.
