Looking for faster scans

I recently purchased a 4570c HP scanner and I find that the software program that came with it takes too much time to scan a single pic. I previously used the HP 4470c and the program with it was so easy and fast. My question is: Can I use the program that came with the 4470c to scan with my new scanner or can I purchase a program that makes scanning faster? I would appreciate any advice.
