Well,my"I hope they got this one right" Goldenes Kornett that I ordered from some company here has finally opened after a year of waiting..but it is a double!!! I know that I didn't confuse it with Tiara(another one that did nothing last year),but I am confused!! I am happy anyway, because it will be the first double that I have to flower this year :).Tiara is finally loaded with buds, though,so I can compare it to whatever the other one is when it openes, lol.
Goldenes Kornett is a single,right?
Gold. Kornett can be found in daves PDB. You are very lucky Gwist. What does it look like?
Hello Gwist! We have missed you around here. From the pictures I have seen, yes it seems to be! How lucky to be able to just order up special brugs! And then to get a double! So is it a double yellow?
Well Monika,it is very tall, lol, but the leaves are ovate and smooth(not toothed). Here is a small picture taken in Spring.it is the third one on the right, but even there you can't see the leaves. The tall Brug in the center is Tiara. The flower opened white, then cream with a yellowish center, but that will change by tonight.Strange....anyway,tonight I will take more photos while cooling off.Do you also have this heat,Monika? It is once again 37c here, and no sign of rain!

Hey Kell, well the last few weeks have been hectic..end if school last week, the monitor died, and I had an eye infection, plus all of this heat that kept me watering for hours(yes,I am kinda complaining, lol). But things are blooming here!! SWF and Engelsgloeckchen have been flowering for a month, even in the heat, and Maya and Klerx Var are on their second flush, plus everything else has buds.At least in NJ you hopefully have A/C,but here...even my fan died from overwork, lol!!
Anyway,it is a double something that dropped its skirt, and now that I look at pictures of Tiara...maybe I did mix them up,lol, but that is highly unlikely.
Having looked at Tiara for the third time, lol,I must have mixed up the labels last year...I think.
I did switch my red braids for blonde ones a few weeks ago...could I be having a Blonde moment, lol!!

Gwist, Tiara has large and heavy flowers. The skirt(s) drop
and many flowers are triple and more.
Since today, the heat is back. The last two nights went down to 8°C . 22 - 25° during the day and very windy. My Brugmansias suffer much under these conditions. I need about 1200l of water every night and four hours work.
Monika,we have had the wind from time to time, but it was one day of rain, and 17°c,then back to 30°c and above.I have been watering my pots twice a day,Cannas and Oleanders as well, but the inground plants are watered only once a day.I actually missed watering a Tulip tree, and realised too late that it had turned brown. This type of weather is not normal for us..it hasn't rained much here since the end of February!1200l!! Wow,that is a lot! I am almost afraid to see how much water I have been using these last few months.
I just went to measure it,and the actual flower is about 24cm.From branch to tip of flower, about 42cm but it hasn't finished opening yet.
Gosh, school ends kind of late there! How long will your summer go on for you? Hope your eye is all better.
I have decided NJ is like a giant humid greenhouse. That must be why they call it the garden state. Everything is beautiful, so lush and green. I am in the prettiest town, Rumson. It is just incredible. So different than California. The only trouble is I refuse to go outside! LOL. This AM I went out before 9 to do my gardening chores. If it weren't for AC I would have melted to death by now!
I wish you could post a picture of your flower. Monika will figure it out for you. I have started double labeling mine for it is so easy to mix them up. If you bought them from the same company at the same time they could have been the ones to mix up the labels and not you after all!
We want to see a pic of you and your blonde braids!
Wishing you both better weather for you and your brugs!

Fabulous photo in the database!
I grow this one, and it is a single here.
Gwist, maybe you have something special there!
I would nominate Cape May as prettiest town in NJ! Oceanfront, with Painted-Lady, Gingerbread Victorian homes on tree-lined steets... Microclimate permits pushing the zone enough to grow tropicals...
Kell, school ended on the 4th of July this year, and they have 6 weeks of vacation which I think is long enough, lol! Actually,Kell, at the end of September, there is another 2 weeks and the kids even get a week off for skiing here,so no complaints with the short summer.
Eye is not really better, but the sandy feeling is gone so I can see again(but obviously not the difference between Tiara and Gold.Kornett).I didn't get them from the same place,Tiara I got from Gommer, but who knows what garden gnome came in the night and mixed the signs up for me,lol.Well just 8 more pics to go on this roll, then into the shop...I dream of digital these days!!!
BTW,even though it is vacationtime for the kids,I find myself waking up at 6:00 just to get everything watered and weeded before the sun gets any higher, ugh.
Pardacanda,Cape May is lovely but I have never seen Rumson before..is that also south,Kell?
I am located in central Jersey at the shore. Bruce Springstein lives in Rumson! LOL! We are just south of Sandy Hook, located between 2 rivers, the Navesink and the Shrewsberry. The yards here are just huge rolling areas of grass with huge trees all over.
I went and looked at a website on Cape May just now and it is beautiful. The difference is here in Rumson it is purely residential with the majority of land developed as huge estates. You can't even see lots of the homes from the road, the yards are so deep. Cape May seems to be a historical tourist resort town.
Remind me Pardancandra where on the Jersey shore you live? I recall it is close to my hometown, htough I may be mistaken.
Try to get a digital Gwist! You would love it esp since you have small children you could be snapping away at no cost for film or developing! You could check the quality immediately after taking the picture so you do not miss any special moments because of a bad picture.
Hope your eye gets back to normal. Sounds like it hurt!
Want to see pics as soon as you can get them.
We just had a giant windstorm go through! DH picked up a plant label out of the driveway and stuck it another pot, he is such a "dear"!! This is why we are such mixed up kids
Gwist,
congrats on your double flower, weather here is cool thank goodness, haven't even needed to use a fan this year let alone air conditioning.
Kell and Pardancanda,
I little off topic, but I'm engaged now and the wedding is in October. I won't be moving until later though. My fiance lives in NYC and works in Manhatten, but we're buying a house in north NJ, along the coast. I've been to Jersey before and its a beautiful state, so I'm looking forward to moving there..I visited the city where Bruce Springsteen lives, its kinda pretty..guess I'm going to become an CanadianAmerican (dual citizenship). Not looking forward to all the packing though, been in my house for 21 years, I don't even know where to start. I'll move when my house is sold.
And of course I'll have to take my brugs with me, after I cull the good ones as most of them were grown from seeds. DF (dear fiance) will have to apply for an import permit and I'll have to get an export permit to get them across the border.
Most of them will bloom for the first time this year-about 30 of them have buds on them. It looks like they will all flower about the same time so it should be spectacular!
Congrats to you both!!!!
Thanks CC,
I'll be close to you when I first move until we find a house in New Jersey, another New Yorker!
