the name of this datura is La Fleur. too bad Tonny is not here to confirm :(. am positive of the name cause i grow them and train them to be a bush.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You will have to be our resident datura expert now Ma Vie! Tonny would be happy if you were I am sure!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

i will try Kell. i just happen to know this one and a few others.

bronson, IA(Zone 4a)

Playsndirt--yes i can give you some seeds--they are tons of pods on them already--I started them inside and they germinate easy--
MaVieRose--if this is not the oakleaf--do you know what color the oakleaf bloom is and what the leave looks like?
I have more daturas that havent bloomed yet- thanks

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

the purple stemmed datura if i am not mistaken would be the black currant datura. here is the flower of black currant datura http://davesgarden.com/contest/2002/brug/viewentry.php?imageid=214

the flower is fragrant even from a distance, specially at night.

MaVieRose--thanks for the link--but now Im confused--I have the black current datura--but is that the same name for the oakleaf--when i bought the seeds it said only oakleaf--thanks for your help

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

i do not know why u are confuse. the oak leaf datura is the La Fleur datura. here is a link to confirm http://brugmansias.com/go/14/

Oakleafed datura is Datura quercifolia, and is called 'oak-leafed' because its leaves are shaped just like those of an oak. Google will show you a good pic if you search for "Datura quercifolia"---I just checked. It grows about 5 feet tall.

"Le Fleur Lilac" is a dwarf form, maxing out at about a foot tall. More than anything, it looks like a little-bitty D. stramonium var. tatula.

http://www.erowid.org/plants/datura/datura_info4.shtml
gives a lot of comparison data about the different species of datura---it can be quite helpful in figuring out exactly what you have.

What's become of Tonny, anyway?

This is what happened to Tonny: http://davesgarden.com/t/389286/

I like the cute little flowers on this one too. :) Beware though, it self seeds like crazy!

bronson, IA(Zone 4a)

MaVieRose and MsBatt--thanks for the help now im not confused --now I know oakleaf is the leave type--I thought the oakleaf and the LeFleur were two totally differnt daturas--thanks for the great info cheryl

Florence, AL(Zone 7a)

Well, that's what I'm saying---oakleaf datura is Datura quercifolia, and Le Fleur Lilac is D. stramonium var. ?(It's a different species entirely.) D. quercifolia gets about 5 feet tall, and Le Fleur Lilac only about one foot tall, and has a differently-shaped leaf. They ARE two completely different things!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Been sitting back on this one,Thanks Ms Batt.I agree.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

I have Datura quercifolia and it is making seed pods like crazy. I have left 1 for seed next year and cut the others off as soon as I see them.

I would love seed of Datura Black Currant Swirl (for next year)if anyone has seed pods developing.

bronson, IA(Zone 4a)

ihughes--I should have some seeds of the black currant datura--email in a couple of weeks to remind me and send me your address and i will send you some i also have a yellow datura--not sure which one--it is almost ready to bloom

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

yes, please. I would love some black currant Datura seeds. Yellow ones would be nice too. I'll send my address and postage. Thanks
