My brug bed

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

I know that this isn't anything great, judging from what I've seen from others, but it's the best I could do this year. The trees are Whiskers.....they were seedlings some generous soul from this group sent me last fall. In between the brugs I have my voo-doo lily bulbs and some EE's planted. In front are my 2 bargain Sago Palms from WallyWorld. $5.00 apiece! :>) 2 of the trees have buds on them, so I will have flowers soon. The humongous ones in the back in the pots were blooming this past week. All in all, I don't think it's too bad for a first attempt. This was taken July 4th.

Looks great to me! That one real fat brug looks so happy! Can you post a close up of the one that is flowering in the back row. It sure looks so nice from here.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Way to go Hound dog!Sure looks great!that yellow looks like a monster!
Cala I deal with sidewalks different,I was pulling a stump and rolled up 8ft of sidewalk, instead of trying to get it back in place, just busted it up and said Oh Well,More room to plant!
Anna I'd like to see your Voodoo close up too, mine is doing great, you sure got me hooked on them!!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Windsurfer got me hooked on the voodoo lilies! Some folks will stop at nothing to spread plant addictions!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Anna sent me a monster looked like a softball,I just gotta figure out how to keep it over winter,it looks like a little tree,TOO cool.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Root, I just let mine dry out in the pots, don't water them once they start going dormant and kept them from freezing. I thought I'd killed them because they take a long time to come up in the spring. Then all of a sudden, it had sprouts, blooms then leaves! Once it came up, it grew really fast.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I'm a zone above you here, mine is in the ground,I wish I had better luck storing bulbs, lost almost every canna I tried to store last year, said I would not do it again,I'm already plannig it,LOL!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

ok then, I need to see pics of all your voodoo lillies. LOL

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Me too. What do they look like? Need pic.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Everything is looking good.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Anna, your flowers look so nice. You are organized, not like here. I have pots all over the place and it is a pain to mow around.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Anna, I think you are doing a great job. Everything is looking very nice. I hope your buds open soon for you and then you will have to take another picture for us.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Good looking brugs, I like that picture.

What do you use for the ground, I like the colour. Is it pine or what. I would like to use that stuff here.

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

Ludger, I use dirt. LOL Nothing covering it yet, just plain old dirt.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Anna_Z. your side plants look great. Are they in full sun. How do you keep them watered. We just had two days of 100 degrees with a strong wind. it is very hard to keep my pots of plants watered under those conditions. You are making me jealous. Donna

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

rutholive, they are in full sun till mid-afternoon, then in some shade. I just water them all every day by dragging my trusty garden hose all around my house. I have so many plants it looks like an arboretum. :>) When it gets much above 80, the brugs pout, tho, and get droopy leaves, etc.

Root, doesn't that voo-doo lily foliage look like an umbrella? I think I have a photo of mine from last year someplace on this box.........should I post it here, or on the "BULBS" forum? Or just send it privately to you? My biggies last year were over waist high on me.

Oh, and thanks a bunch, Dave, for making this the photo of the day yesterday. :>)

Anna, I am impressed with your sunken pots and I like your sago palms--how did you find them so cheap. They want 30 dollars for them here.

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

Bward, the palms were originally $14.99, but when I went back a couple weeks later, they were $5.00! Clearance, I guess. My best friend told me, Jeez, I had to pay $7.00 for mine!!!!!!!!!!! She just needed to wait them out a little bit longer. :>)

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Anna, your garden and plants look beautiful.
