How exciting! Your lotus is a beauty and the first bloom is always the biggest thrill.
I am SO happy and SO jealous! LOL My pinks didn't do as well but one looks like it may pull through. My yellow on the other hand are putting leaves into the air! Maybe there is hope. LOL Yours is beautiful!!

Thanks all! I almost spilled my coffee the morning I saw it. The second bud opened today. Smells nice too. Proves to me that it likes the piece of fruit tree spike I feed it every other week. I'm still waiting for my dwarf one to bloom, but so far, not a single bud.

CC, nothing?? Debby, I would not give up yet. Mine had just small leaves floating until this past week. We had lots of rain and warm temps and they just took off.

Nothing,I pulled one of them out today,the tuber looks fine but no roots,no leaves......
tig, I use a hammer to break the spike into 4 or 5 pieces, then use one piece each feeding. The pot is from Lowe's, 7"x22" I think. I poke in a chunk of spike against the edge of the pot away from the tuber. The spike is 8-16-16.
