New tropical bed3 years old

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Started this bed three years ago-there was nothing there. Always amazed at the growth of tropicals in one season. The bed contains, pines, crepe myrtles, blue ginger, zebra grass, black magic ee, illustrus ee, XANTHOSOMA JACQUINII LINEATUM ee, banana, cannas, hydrangeas, fig tree, tibochina, four-o'clocks, ruellia, and several types of verbena (can't spell). There are more that I can't remember. Oh, and brugmansias.

Can't afford to move to FL-zone 10, so thought I would bring Fl here. Keep testing plants to see if they can survive our winters, which are not that cold 10-15 degrees. But, we are also wet, which means rot. Always plant one and put one in greenhouse-just in case.

Kell, can you imagine being in FL and not buying plants? I came back with grasses and ground orchids. Love those ground orchids. Got yellow, purple and a dwarf purple. First time growing them.

I have never seen them Barb. Would you post a few pictures? I sure would like to live vicariously! Your yard must be so beautiful, even with this terrible mishap!

Bward,

I LOVE the look of your garden! That's exactly the look I'm going for in my back yard but I'm starting late (constant rain before and after Bill) and my plants are small. I'm just going to go for it and see what happens. There's a tropical plant sale at City Park this weekend so I plan to load up! Maybe in a few years my garden can look like yours :-)

Here's hoping,

Mary Ann

vredfish, thanks. I think I listed a lot of the thing in the bed in the first post. If there is a hole-I plant something. There are also gingers about and around the bed.
