LOL You just could not resist TC after all that ribbing, could you???! He will be thrilled I am sure. :O)

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I figured he needed a new obsession to go with his tire planters!

Mercer, PA(Zone 5a)

HA! HA! Almost didn't catch this thread! : ) And yes Michele I will be thrilled! Susie, is an obsession the same thing as a passion? ; )

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL I can see it now! Brugs in tire planters. Hmmmmm. LOL

Mercer, PA(Zone 5a)

Michele, now that would be somethin!! I don't think the tire planter would do the brug justice tho! They're so purddy (the brugs, well, the tire planters too in a different kind of way) they need a special container!!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm thinking three ordinary tires with a tulip one on top. Then plant the brugs. ;)

Mercer, PA(Zone 5a)

That's not a bad idea Michele! I'll give it some thought!
Check yer email!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Oh no Susie!! What have we done????

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Oh no, my brugs will be in tire planters. That's got to be a first!

Mercer, PA(Zone 5a)

I didn't say I'd actually do it Susie! Altho I still might, you never know what you'll find me puttin in the garden next!

Ok while on the subject of tire planters,I guess i'll be the first to admit that several years ago I had a versi peach planted in a tire. In fact I had quit a few things planted with a tire around them. Tires are great for keeping grass and weeds from growing around specimen plants. I did have mine sunk into the ground though just so all you could see was the top of the tire. There I admitted it.(LOL) (:D

I have NEVER had a tire planter!!! I can't believe y'all are putting my babies in tire planters, lol.(just kidding TC, hope you don't mind)

Mercer, PA(Zone 5a)

Hi catsmeow. Glad you admitted to the evil deed of havin a tire planter, it wasn't so bad now was it? ; )
Was yers cut and turned inside out and all painted up? When they're made like that you can't tell it's a tire till yer right up close to it! Plus there's all kinds of neat things one can make from the leftover tire cutouts. For example:

Here's a foto of a planter I made recently.

Actually mine were just a whole uncut tire placed into the planting hole before the plant goes in. It's purpose was to prevent weeds and grass from growing right up to the plant stem and chocking it.It also prevented me from having to mow and weedeat close to the plant. That was back in the day though. I haven't had a tire planter in years and have never had one of the tulip shaped ones. When I got my original two brugs some years back that is when I used them.
Susie rest assured that none of these new babies i've got will ever see a tire except on the lawnmower.
Oops here I go again. I did see on one of the television gardening shows though that you can hang an old used tire from a fence post and plant trailing plants it them.
The gloriosa's are almost done blooming. When should I send them? Would you rather just wait until you get settled in TX?

Alright while you guys are trying to figure out what else you want to say about tires i'm gona say gooddnite. I don't work tommorow but am getting kind of tired and besides my eyes are getting crossed now from looking at this screen so long.
Talk at you all tommorow sometime.

Catsmeow, you can wait till I get settled. Shouldn't be much longer.
