These are a few of the plants that survivied. A sad sight for sure.
a few of the survuvors
That is so sad to see. Think back when you first started, didn't have anything like that for a start. When there is a will, there is a way. Maybe some can be salvaged? Good luck.
I am sure many can be saved. I also have many starts in greenhouse. Just don't know what is missing yet.
Let me know, will help you all I can.
If they are alive they will leaf out quickly I am sure with your good care. You poor girl! Your heart must have skipped a beat when you first saw it all!
Poor thing! I know I'd be cryin.
Hope that's all YOUR firewood there, at least!
This is so sad. I know we can help you get most of your brugs back that are lost. Sure doesn't help your growing season this year tho, does it?
Brugie, Especially, since I wintered these over large, so they would bloom early.
Barbara, I am so sorry. If I have any that you need you can have them. If you will send me a list of what you lost and what others have not promised to replace, maybe I could
bring then to you later this month.
Larry
I missed what happened. Did you have a hail storm?
I'm so sorry. It's horrible to return home to damaged plants. Are the ones in the above picture still alive? If you need anything- let me know as well. Take care, Kristi
Woodspirit1, my neighbor's tree fell on my large potted brugs--probably smashed and stripped 50 large -3-10 gallon size plant. Fortunately, my best brugs had been moved the day before.
Datdog, some will make it and I am going to cut the other back--the ones that are broken below the Y.
I hope your neighbor pays compensation. I'll bet they are embarressed but it was beyond their control
Barbara I know how you feel now. We had a storm blow up about4:00 this afternoon and it was a doozy! We went from 0-60 in 10 seconds. An extreme amount of rainfall, quarter size hail,VERY high winds,so high the rain was blowing side ways. I was fortunate enough not to have any of the several tall pines that I have to blow over. The storm did manage to bring down some large limbs though, and guess were they landed? You guessed it, right in the brugs. This doesn't seem to be a great week for brugs in the states. The damage could have been much worse but mine got by with only a few of them getting all of there branches knocked off. They look like someone just took both hands and started from the top and pulled all leaves and branches off. My poor CG that I have been trying so hard to pollinate in order to get my own very first pod from has had a hard time in the past few months. First we had a storm and 7 of the 14 crosses I made got knocked off. Then 6 of the reamining 7 fell off. Now i'm down to one pod and then this storm today comes and blows the tree over again. Luckily the pod is still intact but things haven't settled down outside just yet. If I manage to get anything from these seeds should they actually survive our weather,i'm naming the first keeper LUCKY! :)
Barb, so sorry. Can I help you with pollen?
Barbara, they do look bad but they will fill back out very soon . . even the ones you need to cut. I hope you have blooms by the end of summer.
catsmeow . . I sure hate to hear what happened to all your nice looking healthy brugs and seedlings. It is terrible what Mother Nature can do but we have to be thankful that things were not any worse than they were. It might take a little longer to see some bloom but that is the life of a gardner and a brug grower. We always make it past the misfortunes.
yes Frannie, with a little help from our friends!
lol lets sing
"I get by with a little help from my friends,
Yes I get by with a little help from my friends,
With a little help from my friends."
Kell- is the Jersey heat getting to you? LOL
LOL Kristi , it got to me even before I got here!
Cats, so sorry for your loss. I know what you mean about the pollinating. I lost all that I had spent the spring and winter on pollinating. They will bloom again.
