I have been gone for 10 days to FL and returned to find my neighbors tree had fallen in the middle of my large potted brugs and beds. HUGE Tree!!! All of the pollination I have been doing this spring is gone--the plants were stripped and broken. Many down to the ground. My neighbor, who is very nice, tried to clean the mess up before I returned............he piled the broken pieces in one large pile and since there appears to be be fewer plants, I believe he threw the ones that were crushed away. I am going to have to start living better or something!!!!
I may have to spend a lot of time in the request and trade section of the forum. LOL I have to remind myself that they are only plants. The only good thing was that I moved Creamsickle, culebra, Tiara, Rosemond, and several of my other very good brugs to a different location before I left on vacation. Must be thankful that it didn't get them or my new starts and seedlings.
Sad news on return from vacation!!
So sorry for you. Everytime I move something "special" to a protected place, something eats them, or something happens that you'd least expect. LMK if I have something you need?
Gloria
So sorry - Bward. Setbacks like that are most disheartening.
I have some un-named seedlings if you want them? and this fall Ill have some un-named cuttings that we can play "guess that brug" game with. sorry to see your sweat and patience laid so low:( LMK cheryl
Gloria--we will not even talk about something that eats plant!!! I want them dead and now! My seedlings and starts were eaten by my crawlie friend while I was away. If they would be nice and eat only one or two leaves it wouldn't be bad and I wouldn't want them dead!!!! Every time my dh hears me complaining, he always asks, "why don't you get a new hobby." I keep asking my self that when it's a 100 outside and the bugs are biting me and eating my plants. I must be very thick headed because I always keep growing them.
I am sure we can all get together and replace most of what you lost. Susie has been cutting back all her brugs for the big move so I bet she will have some cuttings also.
I wonder where the neighbor put the pots? Maybe he has them stacked somewhere and they will still grow from the roots. You would get bigger plants faster if you can recover them.
Put up a list Barb and we will all sign on for the ones we have.
Sometimes I think I've got rocks in my head for brains, as I keep trying even with bugs, bad weather, etc. Can't win, well... maybe every once in awhile, a brug bloom is worthy of our patience.
Barbara, that would be terrible for anyone to come home and find such destruction of their brugs and it is so frustrating to have lost your seedpods also. If there is anything that I can help replace, just let me know and I will be happy to send it to you if I have it.
Barbara I can take cuttings of any that I have, and may have some rooted of the ones you lost. Email me your "want" list and we can go from there. If it wasn't for folks like you and Brugie and a few others that shared with me in the beginning years, I wouldn't have what I do now so I always like to "return the favor"!
If the winds don't take mine, I'll have many that I can share. Pink Favorite is doing well now and I have a couple of Pink Beauty's originally from CC. A lot of mine have some green wood side shoots, so let me know and I'll start whacking.
Hibiscus---I dont think the addiction is entirely about the bloom,---after reading all yalls posts, I think alot of this is about the companionship too. :) you guys stick together..... cheryl
Hi Barb,
I have had so much going on this summer, I am not here much right now.
I would be devastated to come home to something like this.
I am sad to hear this )o;
If any brugs I have that you need replaced .. count me in to help.
Keep your chin up (o:
Alice
Barb, let us help you rebuild.Check my website and see what I have that you can use.
Barb if I have anything you need let me know. I hate you lost all yours.
Barb, post what you've lost once you put a list together. What an awful way to be welcomed home. I got a Cool Blush from you off ebay last summer, if it's one of the ones that you lost, I can send some cuttings.
Barb, The Pink Beauty I got from you is doing well and would be glad to share cuttings with you. Also any others I have. So sorry for the loss, know I would be heartbroken.
So sorry for all the broken Brugs and the lost crosses.
Thanks to all of you--you are a wonderful and generous community of brug friends.
Oh I just saw this thread, and what a sorry sight.
I feel very sorry for you losing your past few years' work, Barbara, but I think the Guys and Gals over there will help you get your Brugs back up and running in no time.
All the best
Wintermoor
Barb, Come see me; I think I may have a pink beauty, that you gave me in June; come get it, gal!
Roz, thanks a lot. PB is ok. I have smaller ones to replace the large one.
