Oh that is pretty!! Looks like you are doing great Arlene! Susie and I had a hard task convincing someone brugs would do well in zone 6. Look at you in zone 4!!

Your are doing such a great job growing these. I am so happy that you are getting blooms. Valley Misty Pink is a pretty pale pink.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

They usually last about 5 days for me, but if you are a bit cooler, you could get more time out of them. However, when it is really hot and humid....mine just don't last much more than 4 days.

Gosh, it had more color in the beginning. You could almost say it is white. Still.....it is a brug and they are all pretty in their own way.

Yes, Brugie
It doesn't show in the pic but there is still a little "pinky" left on it. But it does get full sun in the afternoon so maybe that fades it.

Thinking also that it would be affected if the soil were amended differently.

The "Holly's Pride" hibiscus next to it has done an about face. Last year it got sunk in the ground in soil that was amended with sand for good drainage. It pouted for awhile and dropped some yellowed leaves and then took off.
Got more stature over the summer and bloomed it's true peachy pastel color.

This year, while trying to harden it off for the outdoors a late surprise snowstorm completely defoliated it. It looked so sad. So I stuck it in the ground on the other side of the property that gets the same sun exposure as the old spot. Amended with some sand again. This bed when prepared had sphagnum peat moss and 4 yr old rotted horse manure roto-tilled into the basic clay we have here.
Planted Holly's Pride there as well as the brugs. Mulched around all.
Holly's Pride finally got leaves again and quite a few blooms. But they are almost ORANGE ~ half the size of the ones it was producing during the winter.
And . . . some are coming out flat-faced!! (don't know a better term to describe) and some are coming out double, double ruffled (the way it is supposed to look).

I wonder if Kyle knows if they eventually just give out and revert to smaller uglier blooms. It's close to 6 years old. Or is it just having a nervous breakdown because of all it was put through?

Just switched 2 days ago from the fish emulsion that was going into the watering can to that MG 20-20-20. And in a week will try some of the J.B. Plant Tonic.
Who knows? Next flush may be a different color.

This was the prettiest on the second day.

I love white blooms esp at night. Great plant for your first one. My first was a Frosty I think or a CDW. We have those along with CGs all over here. Still a beautiful sight when covered in blooms even though i see them all over. Finally after years and years I may take them out and put in deeper colored ones. I am thinking about it!

Thanks for your insight, Kell

This is my first one so I was estatic! Glory was so nice to send me this cutting, not knowing if I would tenderly take care of it. She is a wonderful person!

It gave me such joy!
