Greetings from So. California!

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi everyone,

I found this site a week ago and have already sent off clippings to new homes and found out the names of some of my favorites that I have hanging around here. You are all the greatest.

I am jealous of the rain. Most of the plants I see here would not last a minute around here in the land of postage stamp yards. We finally got 9" this year for the first time in a while. The lawns are outta here!

I have a DH, 2 kids (of middle school age, argh), a hammy, and misc. fish. My hanging plants are full of the local tree frog as we have a creek that actually has water nearby. They are as unmelodious as frogs can be but we love to watch them hopping from plant to plant.

Can someone please tell me what is ok to ship from CA and to where?

Talk with you all soon,
Janice

Welcome, frogsrus (cute name)! I can't answer your question, but lots of other folks here will be able to tell you. In the meantime, allow me to say "hello" from Colorado -- so glad you have become a member of DG.

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi there Janice,

I have seen several of your postings and have been wanting to email you to say hello. I just saw this thread this morning.

Welcome, welcome....I have been a member here approx. 3 yrs, and love it. No better site around. I live just north of you in Orange Co., Huntington Beach...also zone 10. Where in the San Diego area are you located? My MIL lives down there and my DD went to SDSC.

Do you ever come up this way for anything? If so, we need to have a little getogether and maybe do some plant swapping. Or, I can always take a little visit down your way to.

Regarding sending plants out of Calif. I send EVERYTHING, and have no problem yet. I also haven't had any problem receiving any trades either, as long as they don't put the word "plants" on the outside of the box.

We put a pond in our backyard 3 yrs. ago, and only have one frog, but he sure is a noisy one. We hear him every nite bellowing out for a mate. We keep trying more poliwogs, but don't seem to able to get any more frogs. We would love to have a nice family of them.

Hope to talk to you more around here.

Your northern neighbor,
Donna

Welcome, Janice, from South Louisiana! I have been enjoying your posts here, too. Isn't this place great? :)
So much to learn! So much to do.

Hi Janice,
Welcome to Dave's; I lived in Orange for 26 years and just moved back home to Iowa 5 years ago.

I will be in San Diego July 26 for my husband's daughter's wedding.

Maybe sometime SoCal and I will do a road trip to San Diego?!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hi and welcome from eastern Oregon where it is also dry. Lisa has enough rain for all of us, and she would share skeeters, gators, and love bugs, plus the armadillo that thinks her flower beds are great places to dig. If it will fit in a box she would mail it to you. None of that exotic stuff here, but if you want sagebrush and a few rattlesnakes I have those.....

hello from the so california area also, northridge, to be exact. Hope you are keeping cool.
Im always in for seed trades, so keep me in mind.

sheran.
