Rosamond and Pink Beauty

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

My Rosamond is on the left, Pink Beauty from JT is on the right. Pink Beauty is a much smaller plant than Rosamond, it's younger and also in more shade than Rosamond.

I am glad to see them side by side. I remember hearing Pink Beauty was smaller. When growing yours, did you find Rosamond to be a faster grower than PB.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Yes, much faster. I've had this Pink Beauty for almost a year and it's not even a fourth as big as Rosamond.

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

I have both and they started out about the same height and seem to have grown equaly for me.
Frannie,
Go to the thread with the pic of the rooted cutting and you'll see some pics I posted today. i finally learned how to do it. The pics are a little off the subject but oh well!

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

I've also been socking mine quite heavily with fertilizer so that may be why the growth rate for both has been about the same.I'm hitting them at least every other day and sometimes with 2 different fertilizers in the same day.

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

I'm using Alaska fish emulsion from the bottom and MG from the top.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Hmmmm, both of my PBs are over 8 feet tall and the Rosamond I got from you is catching up fast.Have you tried crossing them yet?I know you must have.I guess I am really asking ,did the cross take?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It looks to me like if a person has only one of them they would be just fine. I can't really see a difference in the blooms. My PB is growing much faster this year. Rosamond grew like crazy last year leaving PB in its dust. Thanks for posting them together. Do you see a difference in the leaves of the plants?

Burlington, ON(Zone 6a)

In these two pics, the calyx on PB extends much further down the bloom.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I like Rosamond best in these pics. In person, which flower is more appealing to yOu Susie?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

JT, I didn't pollinate them because I am going to have to cut everything back to move it and didn't want to mess with pods.
It's hard to say which one I like best, they pretty much look alike except for size.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Size of the blooms?
ATTENTION! okay guys, JT and i got pink beauty from the same place, and i believe mine is pink beauty, not rosamond. my plant is maybe 7 feet tall and blooming. Brugie, are you calling the pink beauty you got from me rosamond? i only get more confused, the more blooms i see, lol.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Yes Arlene, the size of the blooms mostly, but one plant is way bigger than the other, leaves, stems, height and everything.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Is the fragrance the same on both of them? Are they very fragrant? Pink Beauty, Creamsickle & Butterfly are still at the top of my wish list!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Are the leaves the same also? i remember Monika saying rosamond was a bigger plant and flower, right? i guess i'll run outside and look at mine, lol....
do you have pics of the leaves for comparison?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Arlene, yes the leaves were bigger.
Ronna, I can't remember if Pink Beauty was fragrant.(sorry, too many blooming)

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i don't think it is as fuzzy if enlarged, the one above, here's a different flower. these are recurved, only saw them do this a couple of times last year.

Arlene, I didn't get mine from you. I bought it from B. Ward.

I got one from her and one from CC.

Ms Brugie, i ot mine from B. Ward also, i guess that is what i was remembering, that your one should be the same as mine.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Oh, okay. Guess it would help if we knew if she had both of them. I was looking at your pictures, and mine never did recurve at all like yours does. CC's didn't bloom last year at all. This year the blooms from CC's plant did recurve the first day and then straightened out until they dropped. I already like the New York brug the best of the two I had. Both are beautiful in any case.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Ms Brugie, that is the confusing thing... mine did not recurve last year, saw it a couple of times at night. wouldn't it be funny if it was neither? lol...

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

To add more to the confusion, my Rosamond didn't recurve last year, did this year for a day or two, but Pink Beauty from JT recurved right from the start and stayed recurved.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I wonder what the PB from Logees will look like.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

the 2 are close enough i don't feel the need to have both, but it would be nice to know for positive if i set seeds with it.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Weren't they from the same seed pod? If so, at least they would have the same genes, so to speak. I just didn't want to mess up the brug world by not knowing for sure what my seed's background is.

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Yes they were, so you might expect them to look some what a like, but then, what happened to the rest of the seeds from this pod??????

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

A good hybridizer would have kept the best of the best and tossed the rest. Wow....I'm a poet!!

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

If you guys check out the thread entitled roots. I have a picture of leaves posted from both plants (rosamond and PB).
The leaf on the left is rosamond.I've noticed the leaves are bigger on one than on the other. I have not seen my pink beauty bloom yet but my rosamond is and so far the flower has had no fragrance to it at all and i've checked it at different times of the day.My rosamond came from Susie and the PB came from Logee's.The rosamond flower did recurve for me the first night and then flared back out on the second day.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Both of mine are getting ready to bloom as well, and the Rosamond is a much bigger plant here.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

All these fancy pinks are driving me mad with pink lust! I would even swoon over a frosty tonight if I could see one up close and personal.

Heaven ; ), Denmark(Zone 7b)

I could never dream of painting a full room pink, but I am crazy with those pink Brugs though :D

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

You want me to send you a frosty now Kell?????

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL CC!!! I went out a little while ago to check on the bud on the Whiskers you sent my Mom. Not close yet! LOL. I can't wait. It gives me something to look forward to. thanks again!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Cat, brugs generally only have fragrance at night. Run out there and give it a whiff. You might find a great smelling flower that will knock your socks of with both beauty and fragrance. :-)

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

Brugie,
My CG and Becca Lynn have both been very fragrant during mid day. I've checked the rosamond several times even dark and to me it just didn't have any smell to it. Whe the next flower opens on it i'll check again just to make sure.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I was just thinking about your Rosamond. Seems like last year mine didn't have much fragrance. Pink Beauty has quite a bit. I spoke too quickly. There has been so much confusion about the two plants that I wasn't separating them. Sorry about that!!
