CC's Pink Beauty

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

This one bloomed with the twist and recurve, but ended up looking like this. However, I do believe the color is different and the tendrils are longer on this one compared to the one I've been calling Rosamond for a while, but received as a PB. Thanks Karyn, for sharing.

It is a beauty Brugie! Do you think we ever will get to the bottom of this mystery?

I guess you need to grow the 2 side by side, both the same age, treat them exactly the same and then compare 2 blooms that are the same age at the same time.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

It is a beauty indeed Shirley!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I sure wouldn't kick it out of the garden! LOL Gorgeous.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kell, you are right. Side by side would help, but guess what? I think I lost my Rosamond. Will have to get a cutting back from Kyle and try to figure it out next year. It is hot again today. Heading back out to sit in the shade and just watch things grow. Never know when a storm might take everything.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

That one is worth keeping! Such long tendrils. Which ones do I have from you? PB?? Will return for one of this one.......

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Shirley, it's beautiful. Doesn't Rosamond a bigger bloom than Pink Beauty? I thought that was one way you could tell the difference if I remember correctly.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

So glad it finally bloomed!

Looks great, its one of my FAVORITES!!!!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Beauty! I don't care what name of it but PINKS are my favorite.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Hibiscus, you should have this one (above picture) from me, but won't know for sure until it blooms. I sent out several cuttings and thinking that both were PB, it could be from either one. I just don't remember cutting from the other one. I can say that the tendrils on this one, unless it is a fluke of nature, are much longer than the one I'm referring to as Rosamond. The picture here is of the only one I've had bloom before and to me the tendrils are different and seeing this one roll and curl, it makes me think they are two different plants. I don't really care since they are both pretty, but for hybridizing, it would be nice to have them correctly ID'd on the tags. This picture was taken after a wind storm....sorry it is so ratty looking. Thanks for all the nice comments. It is really hard to say anything bad about a brug bloom, even when they are tattered and torn, but tell me what you think about the two pictures.....Thanks.

Shirley, did you ever get to compare the difference between PB and the Rosamond that you have ?

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Very pretty.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

I have a PB cutting from a generous member here. I was shocked today to see two big buds, but it hasn't even y'd!

Its a gorgeous bloom, Shirley! Can't wait to see mine in a couple of weeks.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I have this from Shirley, has about 5 arms spreading out, so should be blooming soon, if I get them outside. It sure is a pretty one!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Shirley, very pretty...and the bloom looks huge!

Could someone tell me the story of this one? Last fall I received cuttings from Padre labeled "CC Pink".....is this the same? If I remember right, he told me that it was an unknown and he had stuck that name on it. I'm just wondering if this is the same!

TIA...Brinda :)

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Brinda, I think CC pink is a suaveolens hybrid. It might be one that she started from seed... or a one that she got as an unknown. She brought some HUGE brugs to our lil NE round up last summer and Padre had a car crammed full by the time it was over ;)

These pics are from last year and i've posted them several times but will do it again here just as a comparison for any newbies that may not have seen them the first time around,
This is my rosamond that I got from Calalily. I have since lost the plant because I moved the root stock from one location to another just before frost and I tossed out all of my extra cuttings of it. :( The calyx on this rosamond does not go down on the corolla tube as far on my rosamnd as it does on my pink beauty. Also the color of the bloom is slightly different.

This is my pink beauty wich came from Logee's Greenhouse. The plant was much larger, but I was told my rosamnod would benefit from some semi shade and I had it in full sun so that may be the cause for slow growth. Notice how far the calyx goes down on the tube of the bloom on this PB.I had very noticeable differences in these two plants so i'm sure mine are not one in the same.

The Pink Beauty that Shirley is talking about is "pink beauty"

I sent her a cutting a few years ago....
Brinda,
The CC pink is just an un named seedling ,suavenolens X,
will look very frosty pink......

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Im sure it has been discussed before, but Im not finding it. I have also seen "Arlenes Pink Beauty" are there different PB's?
Its just absolutely amazing to me that climate has such an affect on the brugs.

Great to see ya posting David. Sorry you lost Rosamond. I sure hope everything is going good for ya!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

David, that picture with the star burst is amazing! You caught it perfectly!

Shelly, there is a great debate on whether PB and Rosamond are one and the same. People have gotten to saying where their plant came from originally to identify it even further.

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

Thanks Kell, that's one of the few that I have taken that you can actually see what is in the pic!(LOL) I purposely took that one because of that star sape.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

That is beautiful Shirley, really a beauty!! The color is so different, I just love it...SLike

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Thanks Kell.. got it. LOL I think its purdy no matter what. BUT there's a definate difference in Davids there. Just beautiful.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Shelly221,generally,when disscussing different named brugs ,alot of us put the name of who ever we got the plant from in front of the true name
(its a bad habit cause it probably confuses newbies)

There is only 1 "Pink Beauty"

for a while there was a "Kyles Pink Beauty" but I can't remember if he (Eric Knight)changed the name to eliminate confusion.....

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Thanks crestedchik I just wasnt sure, because Ive never heard of Calas LAmour, or Kells LAmour. I was just curious.
