Arlene was kind enough to send me some pollen of KBS. I pollinated the maya sport and little pods are forming. Does this mean that my maya sport is not KBS?

When I returned from my trip. The blooms were a dark peach color. I wish I'd snapped a picture.

I think you have to wait and make sure they are not sterile, but I know little. But it sure seems to be one! LOL. Now that is exciting!

Go girl, you are on a role!
You might have to wait for the pod to mature and see if the seeds are viable. They could be sterile.
Hey I guess I knew more than I thought I did! LOL
Shoot Kell, I didn't see your post or I wouldn't have said anything.
No, Brugie, I felt validated! thanks
well i learned something. i thought it just wouldn't make seed pods.
I have had lots of things make seed pods, delphinium, poppies, they never grew from the seeds, so guessed they weren't fertile?
Rats! I thought the pod wouldn't form. So I have to grow these out? Or can I just see if seeds are inside the pod? I Don't want to keep them on if it will slow down the bloom cycle.
Won't be hard to do Kristi. Just use Cala's method with the wet paper towels and baggie. If they are viable, you can plant them and if not, you just lost a couple of towels and have a reusable baggie. LOL!!
Thanks Shirley- what I'm worried about is slowing down the bloom cycle while the plant is growing these seeds. I'd hoped to see a pod form, then take it off. Seems on other perennials if a pod is forming, the plant will not flower as much. I assumed the same was true with brugs?
I've never had a problem when they have pods on them. In fact, Maya, last year, had so many blooms I didn't even see most of the pods until time to take her out of the ground. My Rosamond was totally loaded with bloom, but she only had two or three pods on her. I really don't think it will make a difference.
