Moda,
I might have some to send you after they finish bearing. Maybe in August sometime. I'll have to look to see if any of them have rooted on their own. Otherwise, I can send you clippings for sure. Just let me know and I will make a note of it.

Morristown, NJ(Zone 6a)

Will the clippings root?

Jacksonville, IL(Zone 5a)

I have no idea if the clippings will root or not! I'm not very good at rooting anything! But I'll send you some if you want to give it a try.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I would love to have a couple of clippings when I get back home roshana. Won't be until Aug. 11th though :)

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

I doubt very much these will root from cuttings. There should be some small plants coming up from runners though.

Moda, I can send you some for postage, but as warm is it is now, they should go Priority, probably 2#, from 28806. Mine bear 2 crops a year, one in June and a larger second crop in late August- early September. I'd send babies so they have the best chance of survival.

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Are you looking for Black or Red Raspberries?

Melissa

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I would love to have both if anyone has any to share with me in August when I get back home or wouldn't mind sending to my mom's while I'm there :)

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

flowox, I'm saving (red) some for you for Fall.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Darius that would be most wonderfull..........thank you very much!!!

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

I have several rooted raspberry plants in 1 gallon pots. They are lookin' for a new home, 'cause their momma doesn't want to repot them! Let me know!!

(Zone 4b)

I have been looking for raspberries too! (See my earlier thread) Darius has promised me some but you can NEVER have enough!!!! Thanks, Greta

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

gretagreta, do you want some now? I have babies that are a good size to transplant. They'd have to go Priority because of the heat. Send me an email, OK?

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

You know the saying, "be careful what you wish for"....I started off with a couple of red & black raspberries along the South side of my split rail fence. That was only 2 yrs ago....now I'm giving them away! They are "poppin' up" in the least expected places! The key issue is to site them very carefully! They grow into a big thicket that needs to be pruned each fall and after the berries are done producing. It doesn't take too many plants to get things rolling.

(Zone 4b)

I have a huge garden that Im starting this summer and Ive got a hundred feet to plant with raspberries and blueberries so maybe Im being greedy but the more the better! I originally sent a thread about fall bearing raspberrries because they dont need pruning you just mow them down each spring but I didnt get any responses. Raspberries are so expensive to buy I just want to have my own crop! Im so excited!!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Mine are summer bearing raspberries. I like the idea of mowing them down at the end of the season. My DH looked like Jack chopping down the beanstalk at the end last year. They grew taller than my 5 ft. split rail fence. I thought he had done the plants in! Not to worry, they are growing like gangbusters & it's only the beginning of July, plus, they throw out a lot of suckers too.

Moda, how many plants did you want??? Darius, your raspberry plants will probably be needed too since Greta needs a lot of them. Anyone else who has "extras", feel free to chime in! :~)

Morristown, NJ(Zone 6a)

Thank you all so much!
I am so excited! I am getting my Raspberries. :-)

I will keep you posted with the crop!
Maybe soon, I can share my plants with others.

Thank you again for all your replies.

shirley which red raspberry do you have i am looking for thornless. I have thornless blackberrys to trade

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Troy, please look at my trade list and see if there is anything you'd like to trade with me for thornless blackberries.

Melissa

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Troy,

I lost the tags to the Raspberries several years ago! Sorry, I don't know the varieties any more. However, they are BOTH very proflic. The red raspberries do have little thorns, but I believe the black raspberries are thornless. My red ones are setting a lot of fruit. Just waiting for them to ripen. YUM!

As soon as I harvest the fruit, I'll take more cuttings, since they grow very well with a little rooting hormone added. If anyone wants red raspberries (with thorns), I'll have some by the end of the summer. I haven't seen the black raspberries producing any fruit yet, but they will probably yield fruit closer to the fall. They are thorn free.

(Zone 4b)

Ive noticed you guys are mentioning both black raspberries and blackberries. Theres a difference. I only say this cause I have blackberries on my land like an invasive weed!!! And I don't like these as much as raspberries because they keep their centers, a less delicate taste in my opinion!

i tried cuttings one year and got nothing but i get lots of new thornless blackberry plants from the cane tips touching the ground and rooting. this year I even had seedlings come up

brown352
I saw a few things i would be willing to trade for email me

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I'm still looking for some, any kind, if anyone else has some to share. I know Darius said she has some when I get home in August for me but anyone else, please let me know. Not sure what I have for trade right now as I'm not home but would be happy to do postage for some when I get back home Aug. 11th :)

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Since Moda127 posted this original thread & request for Raspberries, I'm sending her my 3 rooted Raspberry plants in gallon size containers now.

After the bushes have produced their berries for this season, I will then take additional cuttings. So, please contact me again toward the end of August or beginning of September and I will have a much better idea of how many plants I will have available for trade.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

will do :)

hey all
one of the wholesale companys that i have a catalog for has:
www.monrovia.com
canby red respberry(thornless)
heritage raspberry
indian summer everbearing raspberry
willamette raspberry
black satin blackberry(i think this is a thornless sp.)
these things are about $7 each
+many many other things 250 pages with apx. 9 items on each page
i have gotten some of there stock from retail places and the stuff has always looked real good. the only problam is they want a $3000. yes $3000. min. order would there be enough intrest to get at least $2000 of that next spring. i can get the other $1000 with friends localy

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

wow, that sure is alot for a minimum. I may be interested though if enough people can get in on it and make that much :)

(Zone 4b)

Does that mean you'd have to organize and ship all of our orders to us? That sounds like alot of work!!!!

gretagreta
I see you have only signed up less than a month ago. I am guessing you don't know about co-ops. that is usually the way a co-op works. one person sponsers a co-op does all the work and gets all the headache and everyone that particapates benefits. but also the person that sponcers one is doing it for plants they want example: I want "canby red respberry(thornless)" but don't need 400+- plants, nor do I have $3000 to play with. this way the sponcer get the plants they want and everyone gets plants at (usually) wholesale prices of less, sometimes a sponser finds a real good bargin and shares it

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

still seeking ;)

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

I should be digging some of my red raspberries up soon. The black raspberries have not yet produced their fruit for this summer.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Shirley, let me know
I'll be patiently waiting ;)

(Zone 4b)

Im still hot for raspberries too but dont want to impose on other peoples requests. Ive started my huge garden and ittl be great in a few years in the mean time its just a huge field of clover! Raspberries and apples here we come!
