Pristine

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

This is a cross that Kyle made and I started it from his seed last year. It has a great fragrance this year. The yellow ribbing will not show by tomorrow. These blooms opened today. Michele, this is a sister to yours.

I would now say you are knee deep in brug blooms Brugie. This one is so neat with the srtipes. So tomorrow it will be pristine white?

Should be Kell. The three oldest blooms lost their stripes. I just love the little wavy scallop around the edge of this one. So do the cucumber beetles.

Sure hope you get rid of those beetles!

nice shot!!!I bet under the shade of ALL THOSE BLOOMS would be a great place for a picnic, minus the cucumber beetles of course. lol cheryl

Brugie: She is gorgeous, I can't hardly wait. The Pristine that you gave me is growing taller, but no y yet. I did have Frosty Pink y and she is about 5 ft. tall. So maybe, I will get some flowers before summer is gone. I look for starts of buds forming every night. Think it might be the watch pot syndrome here. Maybe I better ignore them, just feed and water them.

Cheryl, those beetles ruined almost every bloom I had last summer and I had a lot of them. I was just sick. This year, I'm already spraying for them and hope to keep them under control. Of course, I kinda smash everyone of them that I can get my fingers on. They say that the smell of a smashed bug will help keep others of their family away. I don't know if it works, but I'm trying everything this year to have some pretty blooms without holes.

One nice thing about taking a picture of this brug is that....I'm 5'9" tall and I can stand up to take the picture. Thanks everyone. I'm heading to bed now. Got to get up early to get another smell of those brugs before it gets hot.

I used that systemic, Bayer for trees and shrubs on a couple of brugs that were getting gobbled up by the cucumber beetles Brugie and it really worked. I know it is expensive but it lasts a full year. So maybe next year if you dose a few of your fav. brugs as soon as you plant them you will get your moneys worth. It is so easy to apply also.

Wow!Shirley,That looks very nice, beautiful strips,I'm not sure if I have seen this one, yours looks like a prime example!

you know a firend of mine swears that martin birds are worth culitvation for bugs in your garden. He said they will eat skeeters and everything else under the sun. wonder if they would help with cucmber beetles? He has over 40 martin houses. Course maybe its just his passion/sickness like brugs?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Kell, I'm going to see if I can find it. Might not be into the plants for the first flush, but could save flowers on the next one.

Our neighbor has tried for years to attract martins to his martin house. Nothing but sparrows. He drug that thing down every year and cleaned it out in hope....but it wasn't going to happen. Last year he gave it to his son and immediately, Martins appeared and took the house. We have seen them here, but they just wouldn't stay around. I wonder if they could be trained to a collar and leash? LOL!!

Thanks Bob. Kyle named it Pristine because it does turn pure white. It would be pretty if it stayed this way, but from the outside, the blooms don't look as good as they do pure white.

Very lovely!
I love the 'whites'. A specialness all their own (o:
