Co-op lily in bloom

Morris, IL(Zone 5b)

Just thought you might like to see a bloom for fun. Haven't checked the tag, but I believe it's the regal lily. Stem is a bit floppy, which is why the bloom is hanging down.

that is a beauty. my aurelian trumpet mix, 2 white ones, is the only one bloomng so far. one out front and one out back. the others have lots of buds.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

make that 4 silk road and 5 white trumpets, 2 orange and 4 white tigers, and 1 pink la hybrid in bloom so far. i'm glad i bought the mix and not just the silk road. i hope i get other colors too, white being my least favorite color.
oh but don't the trumpets and la lilies smell wonderful. i have to stop and smell them everytime i walk by.

I also had the coral lily bloom, and now one of the pixie lilies are in bloom. Can't wait for the others!

So far the ones I ordered have turned out to be nonfragrant(probably Asiatic) instead of the fragrant Oriental I wanted. Some never even came up. The ones that have bloomed are pretty tho.

here are my muscadet from the co-op. not shown in this picture, but unfortunately they are burning on day 2 or so in full sun. other than this they are very hardy and gorgeous.

sue they are beautiful. your muscadet has the nice pink running down the center of the petals. mine didn't get that. one or two had a tiny bit of shading but nothing like i've seen in your picture or others in catalogues. i don't know why this would happen, do you? or anyone else?
the last of my muscadets have blossomed. most are on the ground, need the rain to stop to pick up & deadhead. guess the millipedes will have a snack. :)
post more picks as you get them. thanks debi and franklin

Hi Debi, In the bed where Muscadet is: the only thing I can think of is that I amended this bed heavily with compost when I planted these, and I water them daily. In another (less amended and watered) bed I noticed that the lilies are shorter in height. Waiting for blooms on those, so I am curious to see if it is the compost....

The Regale was in a pot with potting soil mixed with osmocote.

I wish they would all bloom longer! :-D Stargazer is about to open though!

Am I the only one who got wrong bulbs? My Lovely Girl are all Sierra Nevada. Anybody else have mix ups? (Not complaining, just curious if I ended up with someones bulbs.)

Here is Stargazer. Not from the co-op but opened today and thought I would share. I think this is going to be my favorite! :-D

naturepatch, my lovely girls haven't blossomed yet, so i can't comment on that. but i would like to know if anyone else had a mix-up on there's. i think they came in bags of 25. you got yours in a brown paper bag? or don't you remember, it was a while ago. we didn't have sierra nevada on our list to buy, so they are definately a mistake. are they pretty? i'll have to go look them up. post a picture if you can.

sue in wa, thanks for sharing the info and the picture of your stargazer. they are gorgeous arn't they. well i have a mistake in my garden, not from the co-op of lilies i planted that all have markers saying "stargazer". well they are all light pinks and whites and they are gorgeous together standing 5+ feet tall. i've identified two but am working on the other.

more pictures everyone!!!!!

Debi you got me back to thinking of markers. Kind of off topic but I'm really thinking about getting a brother p-touch for marking. I was told the Brother P-touch 2200 was the one to get. I was on several garden tours where the host had used these with zinc markers. It really made for a nice display and also kind of low key. I have every type of marker out there, and it's starting to look mish mash. And I need the markers now because the garden is still young and I am cramming plants every where!

And dang it! I won't see Lovely Girl this year. Doc ran over them and snapped all the stems......

The current photo of them isn't very good, but this is what they look like. As the flower is maturing, the center stripes are turning a much darker yellow. Looks a lot like Sierra Nevada. And they were in a brown paper bag. I'm just curious to see if all of that batch were the same, or if I somehow ended up with three odd balls(which would be very odd.) They are very lovely though. I'd just like to know what they are.

Lovely pics of the coop lilies. I am still trying to identify the ones that I recd. And yes, you can get mix ups as I have recd. some of the nurseries that I have ordered bulbs from. Just enjoy!!
Lovely fragrance, almost makes pulling weeds a joy instead of a chore.

naturepatch, i found where i planted them and one of them was had just blossomed. and it looks just like yours :(. still gorgeous but.....not a lovely girl. i best put a new marker with sierra nevada on it.
i'm going to email the company. not sure what they'll do about it, but i think it is important that they know anyways. are yours quite short? mine seems to be the same as a dwarf oriental that just blossomed in another garden.
can i use your picture and your information, to send along with mine? i think i'll be taking a picture today.
let me know.
thanks debi

Go ahead and use my photo. I don't care. By the way, I wasn't complaining about the mix up, I just know that's how plants end up mis-named, and I figured it was my duty to make sure they weren't being called the wrong thing. Mine aren't necessarily short. Sierra Nevada is only about 2 feet tall when mature. I think the bulbs are a bit on the young side, as they were top heavy and floppy, which seems to happen with younger bulbs. Even the asiatics and species lilies seem to be that way. You are quite right about contacting the company. They should at least be told there was a mix up. What they do about it is up to them. Though it probably wouldn't hurt to ask if they would send the correct ones, considering the large order we placed. :) (A little guilt never hurts! Lol!) They always say it never hurts to ask!

Debi and Naturepatch: Well I lucked out and Doc left me two stems that bloomed today. I got Sierra Nevada too. It smells wonderful!

Ah-ha! My suspicions were correct! They sent the wrong lilies. Oh, well. Beautiful fragrant blooms can never be considered a bad mistake. Lol! I still love 'em.
