I just recalled this recipe for another forum and thought to post it here. I've never made it, but might get around to it this summer.
KICK THE CAN ICE CREAM
1 cup of whole milk
1 cup of half & half cream
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
Mix all ingredients together in a 1-lb. coffee can. Tape the lid onto the can. Place this can into a 3-lb. coffee can and fill all the way around with ice and add about 1 cup of salt to the ice. Tape the 3 lb. coffee can lid good onto the can. Roll can around on a flat surface. Keep rolling until ice cream is set (about 1/2 hour). Serves 4 (or less if you like to eat ice cream.)
