Tropical Storm Bill

Well here it is the last day of June and we already have a Tropical Storm coming ashore in Louisana. We...Biloxi and Gulfport Ms being on the east side of this storm... will be getting the most out of this storm it's rain. I have already empted my rain gague which hold 5 inches and don't have any idea what amount of rain we have already gotten. The rivers are rising which means people must leave the low lying areas around here. Frannie that area where you got your sand is already under water and still rising.
Roz, Marie and Myself will be fine we all live in high areas...Donna B on the other hand lives very close to the water...I'm sure she will take shelter away from the water.
The wind is starting to pick-up a little but the top wind in this storm is only supposed to be 60MPH and they extend out about 130 miles from the center.
I'll keep y'all updated through out the day.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Ms Glory, how is DonnaB? i haven't seen her around. 5 inches! when it rains it pours.

Arlene,
Donna has been having some health problems...I haven't heard much from lately either. I'll check on her today.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

thanks, i have wondered about her. last i remember was when her grandbaby was born back in february or so....

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Gloria, I sure am glad that all of you live in the higher areas. Sounds like you have already gotten alot of rain. I hope all your plants in the garden have not been too beaten up by all that rain. Lisa is at Roz's and I am going to call in a few minutes and see how they are. Keep us updated.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Glory, looks like you girls won't be gardening much this week! Hope it goes away soon.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Hope you don't have too much more rain.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Just hope that everyone will be okay. Keep us updated!!

Sure hope you're all fine.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Gloria,I'm guessing you didn't need to water the brugs today.

Been listening to WWL radio in New Orleans and I guess they have some 55 thousand folks out of electricity in St. Tammany Parrish and Orleans Parrish lots of flooding...supposed to stop raining early in the morning....I hope!!!

Watering...JT don't think I'll have to water the ground for a few days.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

My sister did not email me today until late, so I was sure she had evacuated. But turns out she probably willnot flood. You guys really suffer with the weather! I hope you all do OK!

city?? lol sticks, AR(Zone 7a)

Glory do yall have a problem with snakes there when it floods? Every so often it floods here and it seems like all the snakes come out in search of higher ground. Wear your shoes!!!!!!!!!!!! cheryl

Cheryl,
I'm sure there must be snakes when it floods. We are high and dry where we live but I will wear my shoes. LOL I do however have a friend that lives on the Biloxi River..she has to move her car from time to time to keep the water from getting into it but that is not the norm around here. Living along one of these rivers is very nice but I'm to old to have to worry about water getting to my house....this area is at sea level so there are no cliffs.

The rain has ended for now...I have no idea how may inches we have had in the last 24 hours. If I had to guess.... it must have rained at least 10-15 inches. I'll check in the morning and see if we had any damage...the wind is blowing right now so I'm sure the Brugs have gotten the living tar beat out of them.

Kell,
This storm was a walk in the park compaired to Camile...winds up to 220MPH...that storm hit in 1969 and tore this area slap up. But you know everywhere you go there is something either it be earthquakes, snowstorms or whatever...can't seem to get away from it. :0)

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Glory, glad to hear all is well there. Can't fight mother nature.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Just found out about the storms this morning, I am glad to hear you all are ok, just wet!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Gloria, I hope the damage to your brugs is minimal. That sure is alot of rain in a short time, but I am glad that things were not any worse than they were.

Brundidge, AL(Zone 8b)

Glory, We are just now getting the high winds from Bill and they have just distroyed my brugs I have three on the ground hope yours are in better shape This wind is nerve racking and to see my brugs on the ground is heart breaking, but as long as i don't see a tornado I'll sacrifice my babies and start some cuttings from them.

springsong

Spring,
My Brugs seemed to have made out better then one of my large Crape Myrtle trees...it broke at the soil line...no repairing it. I still haven't taken a walk around the yard but not much I can do about it now. LOL I hope these winds will pass you very fast.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh I am so sorry for your losses. Sounds so sad to see them on the ground.

Springsong, you know you can root huge pieces of brugs. If you need to know how it works for me, I will send you an email.

Brundidge, AL(Zone 8b)

Well spring, your Jean Pasko is on the way, sure hope it doesn't get caught in the storm and they never get it delivered! It is not as big as yours', but good roots and should bloom for you soon. It has been one of my best bloomers.

Glory: Hang on tight, hope it is over soon!

Well,
Ron cut the Crape Myrtle down this afternoon..I guess given another three years it will be just a s big as it was. :0( Most everything else made it through the rain and wind...some looks a little wind beat but they will be fine.

Brundidge, AL(Zone 8b)

Glory I am so sorry you lost such a big tree and those grow so slow

Such a pretty color. So you think it will come up from the roots? I found a great site online that lists lots of kinds and tells the characteristics of each Glory. I will find it for you Glory. Lose one, add 2!

Kell,
It should return for the roots but right now the patio looks off balance with this one missing. We're have a big cookout tomorrow evening and now there a big empty spot by the patio...oh well what can one do. LOL
