seed question

okay i got some seed in trade. how do you tell a good seed from a bad seed? how do you start them? peeling as in after wet take something off them and look for what? these sound harder to start then plumeria. man talk about babying seeds. thanks for the info.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Imizadi, some friends in the Pod'ners project at ABADS and another group of friends from BBGA tried experiments. We peeled the seeds and dipped them in 10% bleach solution before germinating in wet paper towels sealed inside baggies. They were kept at room temperature(though some put them on top of the refrigerator or hot water heater to keep them warmer). We got 90-100% germination in half the regular time. Within 2 weeks, most of the seeds had germinated. When they are sealed inside the baggies, no fungus gnats can get to them, so that's a bonus.
As a control, we germinated some unpeeled seeds in regular potting soil. Germination was poor(sometimes only 10-20%) and took about 8 weeks average.
