I have ferns on my land like nobodys business. I do not know their names. Thay are maine locals.Id love to send you some for postage as Im a new member and would like to learn how to send something. You can have as many as you want.
If you want I can take some to my local nursery to identify them. One is fine toothed and the other is less so. There is also a very large tall one with a brown central stalk kind of like cinnamon fern. These are very hard to dig out. They will be heavy to ship.
Thanks, Greta

If anyone has extra maidenhair ferns. I would adore some of them! Or is it not nice to post a want on someone else's want thread? If Im treading toes sorry.

(Zone 4b)

The large, cinnamon type ferns would be heavy but the other two would be quite easy.

Finally!! Sorry I took so long! Its been a busy holiday weekend. I took my samples to a nursery and found some matches. The fine toothed one ia about 24" tall and wide, known as hay scented fern.- (Dennstaedtia) .
The broader leafed one is known as sensitive fern (Onoclea)has about the same height and width. Both provide quick spreading cover with some moisture, tolerate sun but do great in shade. These are naturalized all over my land so you can have as many as you want. Thay are tough buggers!and should travel fine. Id be happy to supply these to anyone for SASE or trade!
Thanks, Greta
