Not even sure if that is the real species name. Mine doesn't break dormancy normally until the end of July. Is there a way to wake it up early? Believe me, I keep it quite warm.
Anything else to know about this plant? Thanks, Dennis
Does anyone grow Amorphophallus 'konjak'?
Me! I have had it for 2 years now.
Last year I received small bulblets that I grew all summer. They went dormant on me in late summer. I dried them out, cut off a few bulblets, stored them in dry peat for the winter. Then in April I soaked them in lukewarm water for a couple of hours, put them in pots of compost, watered them, bottom heat, and they sprouted in a couple of weeks. It did take them a couple weeks after they broke the surface for the foliage to open.
I hope next year they bloom! I keep mine in pots of compost that are half-sunk in water. They grow very fast, very big that way.
Here is a photo taken last summer, a couple weeks after the bulblets sprouted.
