Eric, and Susie, what do you make of this?

Heaven ; ), Denmark(Zone 7b)

All the Nina Lane crosses from Larry (Daturapod) has a small bud. Last year those was way higher than this year. How come that they Y in lower height now? That is not exactly what puzzles me. There is a bit more to it. Several other Brugs - both named, unnamed and seedlings from several friends plus four of my own - has buds in the same stage of development. Is all this happening casual or does time of year and other environmental factors THAT much impact on Y`ing? By Datura Y`ing is dependant on daylenght plus temperature and it is generally said that none of these factors is vital for forming the Y in Brugmansia. However, many of us probably have thought more than once that there has to be some key-factors to initiate Y`ing and that if these are not present that it will postpone the forming of the Y, but these are not currently known or acknowledged. What are your personal experiences in that field? Other inputs are valuable as well :)

Tonny, i have some that started blooming at 2 feet.... my original frosty pink, frosted back 2 winters now. shortest it has bloomed so far. some others blooming shorter too. in the ground, maybe bigger root balls? no idea.

Tonny, I too have noticed that mine that get frosted back Y much shorter when the new growth comes up in spring. Seems like each year those in the ground are shorter when the Y forms.
