$19 at Lowes

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Found this fabulous majestic palm at Lowes, couldn't resist while waiting for my trachycarpus wagnerianus to arrive in August. Now I am thinking of putting in an entire palm grove and adding my pineapples and banana tree.

Hope to get it planted Sunday and am thinking of how to keep it alive this winter. Good ideas I think may work, but if not at least they aren't very expensive.
Thanks

Wow haighr: I think you got your money's worth. It looks Majestic! Still waiting for your spider babies to make their way to B.C. Your tropical grove sounds quite lovely and exotic. I do have one palm and a banana but, I must admit they do look a little peculiar in the West Coast Rainforest.

Just out of curiosity, haighr, how would you protect these in the state of Maryland? E.

Sweet,I can't pass on these myself,I have found they like the shade,I set mine up so it casts a shadow from the next door yardlight.

Steve came home Friday with 2 more. I plan to cover them with insulation on the ground around the roots and part way up the trunk and then wrap in burlap. Hoping that will do the trick.
We are going to make that area our tropical island. Will lay out the shape of the island with the garden hose, then remove grass and replace with the beige sandstone like in my walkways and of course more sea shells from the bay. Plant these trees around the fountain and the 2 trachycarpus when I get them in August. May even find a stone bench to put on the "island"! Just love new projects.
