bob47 what an excellent photo of you ruby stella. You need to come out to NorCA and take pictures for me. I am afraid that my shot didn't do the beautiful flower true justice as you photo did. Very, very nice.
Wowzer! That is gorgeous!
Not any newer (dig cam's) than I am, I am still trying to figure out all that the thing does. I have no clue what you would do to shot/edit to high resolution. See I told you that I didn't know anything about it. The bad part is that I take pictures (like the Ruby Stella that don't do them justice). Come to No CA and give me a lesson or two (thousand). Truly great camera work. They are a very impressive daylily.
Agree, the Ruby Stella is an impressive daylily.
What works for me is :
- join a DC photo forum and jump in, to learn.
- keep the DC very still during shooting, use tripod and
remote release (or use the timer).
- use exposure bracketing to later choose the best.
- use fill flash to bring out the throat area when needed.
- get a good image editor and learn it well.
(note, DC=dig cam)
The biggest help for me was joining a Minolta DC forum
since I have a Minolta DC. Its a 7Hi but Nikon 5700 has
similar features. These are 5 mp DCs but a 3 or 4 mp should
do as well. I had a Minolta S404 and graduated to a 7Hi.
One of the best values today would be the Minolta S414.
I think I could duplicate these daylily JPEGs with a S414.
I'm not pushing Minolta over any other, I'm just familiar
with their line and enjoy the unofficial friendly forum at:

Here's a high contrast Rose image.... Bob
Bob, you give me hope although I doubt that I can achieve your level of skill. I have a sony DSC-P71 DC with 3.2 mp. I will check around for a form that features this brand of DC and see if I can pick up so tips. I actually bought it for my wife for christmas and she is just now starting to learn to use it. I haven't even sat down and read the manual completely. I am going on vacation next week so I think I will take the manual and read in flight.
Thanks for the information. Ivan
I have been trying to find Ruby Stella to purchase and can not even come up with a source on the net. I would have to be able to order it so can anyone give me a source. Your photo is so beautiful that it should make everyone want it.
Thanks,
