White Whiskers

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

I just about wrecked my car last night when I pulled into the driveway and saw that Mr. White Whiskers had bloomed. He was a gift from Calalily, and he's tall slender standard that stands about 7 ft high. He smells heavenly. Nat

I also have pink frosties in bloom, and one my favorites, Isabella. Isn't she delicate and feminine looking?

Wow Nat, you sure have a way with Brugs! They both look devine!

How long are WW's flowers? I cannot believe the size!
Can I be among the first to beg for a cutting this fall?

Vi

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

they both are very beautiful indeed :)

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

OH Nat, those are simply gorgeous. You must be doing something right with them......Keep up the good work!!

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Vi, WW's flowers are, guessing (I'm at work), very long - including stem are about 14 inches long. Since, his canopy is so small - - I thought I would let a couple of suckers grow and try to root them. And yes, I'll do my best to get you a cutting.

The mild, wet weather has been great for my brugs. Of course, now that the temps are up in the 90's - - I'm seeing some yellow leaves.

Now that my babies are blooming - - DH has stopped poking fun at my containers of manure tea. BIG smile.....

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Cala strikes again! LOL That is absolutely stunning! Look at those curly 'whiskers'!!

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Nat, just like my DH, for an entire winter he got on my case about all the brugs that I had inside, and then when he saw them in bloom his jaw dropped, (well - I might be exagerating there...)

Homestead, FL(Zone 10b)

Nathalyn:

You definitely have "the touch" when it comes to your plants. They are beautiful.

city?? lol sticks, AR(Zone 7a)

you know Nat with blooms like that---its highly possible that you might get a ticket for reckless endangerment to motorist :) cuz it might make me run off the road myself or worse yet just stop and obstruct traffic. lol

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I have never even heard of Mr. White Whiskers. It is so great. I really love white ones.

Never heard of White Whiskers either but it sure is nice...it looks a lot like Ihilani(ee-hee-lah-nee) which is a Whiskers Hybrid.

Nat that is sure gorgous! I think I would have also wrecked the car when I saw them too. Send some of that smell my way would ya?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I want a pink whiskers.....

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Is there a pink one? Maybe Kell has it! ;)

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

I love White Whiskers! I want a pink whiskers, too, hope one of us gets one from your Isabella x Whiskers babies!

CC,
I'm trying but so far no luck...maybe this fall I'll have better luck. The next time Ihilani(ee-hee-lah-nee) blooms I'm going to use some Candida Pink and EP pollen on it....keep your fingers crossed

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh yes, Gloria, we need a pink Whiskers. That would be fantastic.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

I still can't stop looking at this Beauty!

Did you measure it yet, Nat, or is this photo deceiving?

BTW--what special "manure" do you use for your tea?
(Woolly Mammoth?)

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Vi - the photo is not deceiving (now, would I lie to you?). From stem end to bloom end was 14 inches. The serious heat wave we're having put a quick end to my blooms, but I still have a couple of unopened buds. And I have a sucker that will be saved for you as soon as it ceases to be so green.

My tea is a lovely mixture of pelleted chicken manure, earthworm castings and Black Cow manure. I alternate feedings with Miracle Grow - - 2 weeks manure tea, 2 weeks miracle grow.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

How do you get the chickens to poop in pellet form?????

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

With a BIGGGGG whip!

:)

For those without whips, you can buy Black Hen brand chicken manure......LOL LOL

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

lol.... i think home depot here quit carrying the black hen. it actually didn't smell too good best i remember.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Nathalyn, I've got about 5 or 6 of those seedlings potted up in the big red pots if you want them. Bill says they won't fit in the truck!(got your boxes too, thanks!)

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

I was wondering if Black Cow had enough left in it for tea!
Used to have tons of earthworm casings until my moles moved in--haven't seen one worm all season, but the moles moved out :D

BTW, where do you keep this lovely concoction? Buried?
I do like the idea of switching fertilizers.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Nat,
I can see you now running around the yard chasing those poor chickens with a whip and a bucket catching pellets on the fly. LOL I love that reply and I also think that cc was really funny too.
If only we could get farm animals to poop where it is convenient to get their stuff. The only specie that I can think of that does that is the llamas and alpacas. And their poop is great too! I use it all the time as my neighbor has 5 llamas.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Dang,I've been chasing them all over the yard with a whip, and they are still doing their splat poopies.......Should I be yelling at them "Pellet form ONLY!"?

And my strange neighbor is looking at me differently.....don't know why.........I hope he's not one of those kinky guys......Guess I shouldn't wear a bikini and run around with a whip,HUH?

Getting back to the pellet...never seen pelleted poopies.....Gunna have to look for that....

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

lol CC

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

CC, Next time I come to New York, I'll bring my whip and see if I can "Whip" your chickens into shape. You obviously are not intimidating enough!

And Lani - - I don't carry the bucket. THAT's what husbands are for. BIG SMILE........

Well, enough tall tales for now..'til later, Nat

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Oh I thought that the bucket was for kids to have an excuse to chase the chickens. Hmmm I wonder if I could housebreak my chickens (that I don't have) and teach them to poop only into the bucket with pellets. If I can then I could make a fortune selling chicken poop pellets. LOL

Hey Nat, when I get rich enough on chicken poop pellets I will finally be able to come visit you.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Lani, I would love for the "Queen of Poop" to come for a visit! LOL

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

well, I guess I would be the "Q o P" as you put it so well. LOL

Meanwhile the llama's are working overtime producing a whole new pile for my next flower bed that I make. Isn't it wonderful to have good neighbors who feed and care for the animals and don't want the "gold"?
