Now, don't laugh too hard....

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

This is my first brug and it's quite pitiful. But at least it had one flower... I got it from Cala last year at the roundup.

Guess I'll never be a brug gardener, LOL.

it's gorgeous. give it another shot of fertilizer, and watch out.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

We are not laughing! Everyone who has grown a brug had to go through this stage. Very nice size on that bloom, if it grows up and is full of blooms, you can be VERY proud. It will be something to see!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Hech yes, look at that big ole bloom!!!did you get a little scent to enjoy?

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

No laughing here...very pretty flower.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Don't give up. You will have lots of bloom before the summer is over. I like pink and can just imagine the show you will have in another month or so.

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

Looks good to me. I am waiting not too patiently for my first bloom of any color. They just got a good drink from Mother Nature. I have been giving them MG, too.

I had 3 plants last year but only one bloomed, just a few blossoms. It has a lot more buds this year but unfortunately it is planted at the mansion where archives is housed. One of the others is blooming at my sister-in-law's house and is a georgeous yellow. Only the one I have at home shows no buds :o( I'm afraid it's in too much shade.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT A BRUG IS. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME A HINT AND ARE THEY SOME KIND OF ANNUAL FLOWER OR A PERENIAL. THANKS ALOT. I KEEP READING ABOUT THESE BRUGS ON THIS THREAD BUT TO BE HONEST, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE.

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

your brug looks good I can show you some sick one if you like

Penfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Darius, your picture explains to me the "brug mania syndrome". I certainly can understand wanting to grow this beautiful flower. I'm like Herbie43, pretty much clueless except I know it's very lovely and you should be proud of yourself. Anything that gorgeous has got to be difficult to grow. The world of gardening is just huge. The more you know the more you know you don't know.

Hi Herbie, Brugs is short for Brugmansia. Until a few years ago they was called tree-Datura. They are trees, but not hard wood trees like Fagus and Oak, but more like elderberry trees. We grow them for the sake of the flowers which is trumpet shaped and often more than 30 cm long and very pleasantly fragrant. The flowers they come in many different colors and nuances of pink yellow and white, but there is none that bloom in blue (yet). Welcome btw. to Daves garden and welcome to the Brugmansia forum :)

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Herbie, they have huge blooms, smell wonderful at sunset and are to die for. Go back to the main Brugmansias and Friends Forum and click on the different photos. I got my 3 plants from cuttings that tiG sent me and got 2 more from Padre this year. They are not hardy so everyone either takes cuttings and roots them for the next year, or brings them inside and holds them over until the next spring (or you can do both).
Welcome to DG

Herbie go to here and see the different kinds.

Well, folks, thanks for all the kind words.

Last evening I found a bonus in my yard... I had put some composted cow manure in 5 gal. pots to transport elsewhere, and forgot about them. Tropical Storm Bill filled the buckets with rain, so I siphoned some off the top and fed my 3 brugs. (That's in addition to a regular MG feeding.) Hopefully it will give my pitiful plant shown above, a boost. BTW, it has a couple more blooms forming. The other 2 are quite small so I don't expect much from them.

I just love telling other internet friends at totally different sites about the hot arguments here over the best poop.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

arlene, I took your advice and have given it a shot (several times) of the compots tea, and now it has several more blooms forming. Thanks!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Darius, don't give up on the others either. i fell in love with them when my first two came 10 inches long with a couple of roots and in less than 3 months i had blooms. glad to hear you have blooms.

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Darius, keep the fertilizer and water coming--lots of sun and watch out!!! More flowers than you can count. Well, almost. LOL Enjoy!!
