New thunderstorm in Denmark

Heaven ; ), Denmark(Zone 7b)

We are all well and okay. We had a big branch of a castaneda tree breaking off and landing in the GH roof, but other branches kept it from breaking the glass. Another castaneda broke in half. The Brugs and seedlings looked like they could fly away any minute.

Here is half a castaneda tree.

... and the other half in the hedge and covering six large Brugs. Its too late evening to start the chainsaw to seem how the Brugs are doing, but if we are as lucky as we were with the GH roof, they are free of damage.

Joyce, thanks. After the rain really broke out I opened the door to the yard and went out the door in quickly in the house again ... and my close was completely wet when I was back in. Such weather is not usual here, so I had to experience as much as possible while it was here.

Bruno, I think things will be okay. Worse case scenario is possibly one or two broken Brug stems, but they will grow out again. It was funny with the castaneda, because that one that dropped a branch on the GH was a tree, that we had talked about cutting a few branches back to give more light and the bigger tree that broke in half had just been trimmed heavily, because it shaded for the Brugs for several hours and because we talked about putting a bench there. What plants do you grow as hedges and how high are they? Here they are about 1.4-2.5 m high and the area 13 meters broad and 35 m long, but its mixed of ligustrum and other bushes and trees, so we consider to replace them with Thuja and let them grow to 2.5-3 meters to give better shelter.

tonny, hope your brugs survived.

Tonny, sounds horrible!! I always had a fear that our 100 year old apple tree would lose branches and smash into our house during a storm,so I finally cut it back this year.
Unusual weather here,too...every day it has been over 35c!No rain here, but hoping for a bit(without the wind, lol).
I hope your Brugs survived the storm!

Glad to hear that everything is okay or at least not destroyed. Storms can be such destructive wonders of nature. Right now we would like to have some of the rains that people are getting too much of. You all want my address so you can send it this way?

I'm so sorry Tonny, I hope everything recovers. But at least you and Lene and the dogs are OK.

You haven't lived until you've been through some of our coastal hurricanes in North Carolina. I am about 300 miles inland, in the mountains, and we do not get hurricanes or tornados, but I surely have dug a lot of sand out of the first floor of relatives' homes at the beach since 1954.

Thanks for your nice wishes :) I cut up the stems that broke and the four Brugs under them was a little bended, but okay. Nature took only two small cuttings from a pink suaveolens.

Amanda, no, not traumatized at all. The Brugs have also straightned out again and everything looks fine :) Yesterday in the darkness I thought it was only a couple of large branches that broke, but the main stem broke down too. Its so rare that we have such weather, so I enjoyed it by running out in the garage, where I could have the door open to see evenything (Lene complained that I opened the entry door to the house, because the water splashed into the entry) *lol* The garage is only four meters from the house, but I was soaked when I got there. The cats was sitting on the top of the wood piles up under the roof.
