This is a very good picture of how red it is in the sun. I took the photo in my garden earlier today.I don't know of a redder iris.

I have had it since 1996 from McMillen's Iris Garden in Southern Ontario (http://www.execulink.com/~iris/). But, I had it in a very bad spot that got worse with shade. This spring I moved many iris rhizomes to my special herb bed (which is a raised bed with a lot of sand and gravel) and now it's blooming it's head off! I wasn't even sure which pieces were what! Good old 'War Sails'! I haven't seen it for 2 years. It always bloomed this red. In subdued light it looks a little less vibrant, but it's VERY red, with a yellow glow on the shoulders of the falls..

I am not usually a fan of red iris but this one is absolutely a knockout.
