Kyle - is the pod on my TG cactus ready??

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Is this pod ripe enough for picking? It's a bright rose color and a little squishy when you squeeze it. It doesn't seem like it wants to fall off though.

I'm so glad that you asked! I was thinking of doing the same thing. My yellow one has 2 seed pods on it, they aren't bright pink like yours, more of a light plum, and a bit squishy.

YooooHoooo - Kyle - we need your help!

When the pod shrivels some, so you see wrinkles its ripe!Mine doesn't have any pods..but they are blooming again! :-)

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Okey Dokey. It's not shriveled at so I'll give it some more time. I feel like Cala... I can't stop from squeezing it :)

:-) KC

How long does it take for a pod to mature?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Seems like forever! This one has been there since Febuary anyway.

I finally picked this pod when I brought plants in the house this fall. I just noticed I have a few teenie weenie sprouts coming up now :o)

That is cool Sue! I wonder how long it will take before the seeds grow enough to flower?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Here are my first seedlings - LOL! I think it's gonna be a long, long time before I get flowers!

Oh my gosh, those are so tiny. I hope you have lots of patience. That isn't much growth for nearly a month. I'd never make it...or they wouldn't. LOL!! Congrats on getting the seeds to grow.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Yup - I just took that pic... so that makes them almost a month old. I don't think I knew what I was getting myself into. It's a lot easier to pic up a plant for a few bucks at the grocery store!

Yeah, but just think of all the fun and anticipation.....

The persistent cat gets fat!Great looking Babys!

Update on the babies: Not much progress to report in 3 months time!

My patience is waring thin ;)

Wow! I know how you feel, poppysue. Look what I am babying. They don't look like they have grown much since this photo from a month ago.

Wanna have a race? LOL!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh, you must feel great having them grow from seed. I don't know if I could have stuck it out, but they are sure looking good and you must have lots of patience.
