Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie from New Orleans who loves plants! Gardening is very much a part of the history and culture of New Orleans so there are lots of wonderful gardens here both public and private. I'm not into grass at all, so my ultimate goal is to fill every square inch of my yard with plants until it looks like the yards in our Garden District!
I found this site last week and got hooked! It's by far the best gardening site out there. I've already gotten lots of help by searching the forums and the plant database.
I hope that everyone who can afford to subscribe will do so. I think it's the best $15 I ever spent! I want to make sure that Dave can keep this web site going. Running a web site can be very expensive (not to mention time-consuming) and the more people and content you have on a site the more it costs. Bandwidth is not cheap! :)
Anyway, I'll stop evangelizing. Thanks very much to Dave and all the others who make this site possible, including the members!

Hello from New Orleans!
Hello again Mary Ann, and welcome!
DG is the best garden spot on the web and for 15 bucks it is the best investment..after all, magazines get lost by the wayside, this will not! (mainly, because you get hooked and can't leave) I've met so many good friends through this website. I hope we get to meet one day.
I went to Nicholls for 3 years..that was years ago. If your daughter is around on Saturday A.M.'s tell her to come see us at the Farmers Market, downtown Thibodaux from 7-11a.m.
I hope we get to meet one day! (in a small voice:are/were you REALLY a zuluqeeen?)
Hello and welcome to DG, zuluqueen.

Waving from Kentucky! I just know you'll love it here.
A very warm welcome to you from just down the bayou!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome!
P.S. To Lisa: No I was never the queen of Zulu, but when I was a kid I always wanted to be! Unfortunately it takes big bucks to participate in the Zulu parade just like with Rex and Endymion. My father-in-law is a member of Zulu so we always go to the parade and the ball. I did get to ride in the Ulysses parade on the West Bank in 2000. Not as queen though :)
well then, we will let you be our Davesgarden Zulu Queen
Thanks Lisa, that works for me!
Welcome Zuluqueen504 - closest I come is growing Zulu Princess Daisy from seed!
This is the greatest gardening site known to me!
Hi Dea,
I agree, I love this site!

Hi, ZQ - A belated welcome to DG! We visited Lisa last Thanksgiving and enjoyed seeing Louisiana. Maybe next time we visit there we can all enjoy beignets together in NO somewhere. :) I can't believe how many Louisianans are joining up at DG - it's great to see y'all!
I recognized your name, Zuluqueeen. I have seen your name around the past day or two. Welcome to DG's from the beautiful pacific northwest! $15 well spent!
Thanks for the welcome folks! I've been having a great time here!
