pet off sprays

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has used the various sprays, etc. that are supposed to keep pets off your flower beds. I have a new collie puppy, who's favorite thing to do is walk in, run in, eat in or sit on my plants. I'm going to try taking a water gun with me when we go outside. So far she is spending most of her time inside, but eventually she'll need to go outside.
