Shrimp Plant (Justicia brandegeana)

My photo of a recently acquired Shrimp Plant, but don't know the name of the specific varity. It' now (June 18)in full bloom here near Houston, TX.

Common name: Shrimp Plant
Family: Acanthaceae
Genus: Justicia
Species brandegeana

This is a picture of Pachystachys lutea, I'm afraid. Beloperone (J. brandgeana) has pendant inflorescences, and P. lutea has this erect one.

I agree with Monocromatico. I grow P. lutea in Bartow, Florida. It does well here. Propagation by cuttings is simple.

Note: I stumbled across this image while reviewing the Justicia brandegeana entry it was originally entered in. Thought I'd let y'all know I've moved it to its rightful home (the link above will take you there.)

Whenever you spot an image out of place, a note to the thread is a good starting point, but sometimes the editors don't read all the threads, and miss one; an error report via the Plants Database will help nudge us when something needs to be moved.

I planted a shrimp plant last spring and it grew very floppy and never bloomed. In winter it gets sun from dawn til 2 pm or so. But when the pecan leafs out it get sun only from about 10 am til 2 pm. I don't know if it's this one or not. The nursery told me it was white. I'm going to dig it up and put it in a pot til I figure out what to do with it. Any ideas?

Where can I purchase a "Golden Shrimp Plant" or "Lollipop" plant in the Houston, TX, area (southwest Houston)?

Thank you,
