Wanted to introduce myself

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

I've been a member for several weeks but have enjoyed the site so much I haven't taken time to say hello. In corresponding with SoCal - my secret plant trade friend - she suggested I come here and let you know a bit about Shihtzumom.

I live in SW Va. 2 teen boys, 3 big 'ol cats, 1 beautiful, cross-eyed Jeffrey (who you may have seen on the pets site) and a sweet little Gracie (also on pets) who was just bottle feed after being dropped along with 3 siblings.

I have 2 Shihtzu's - both black/white, Marley turned 5 yesterday (male) and Abby is 2. The best dogs in the world!!

When I purchased my house 4 yrs ago there were NO plants/flowers in the yard. It had been a rental house for several years. The yard is small, about . 5 acre, but it's certainly filled with plants, trees, shrubs, hosta, and even a couple home made glass bird fountains that my husband made from a lg glass bowl, copper pipe, and an aquarium fountain. The birds love the water dripping on the small river rock.

We have lots of squirrels and birds. They don't care that we have 3 fat cats (don't think the cats even notice). We've even raised a baby squirrel that must have fallen from a tree. His name was "baby" and lived several months before developing seizers and died.

I love roses. I'm 2 yrs into that wonderful project and wasn't very good at keeping track of their names. I started putting copper name plates by each so hopefully that will do better.

I truly love DavesGarden! It's the most informative, helpful, and friendly site I've ever visited. The $15 investment is a wonderful bargain. I've already communicated with many other gardeners. That's for providing such an atmosphere.

I'm a VT Hokie too.

Hope to be emailing/posting with each of you.
