Water is finally clearing!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks to some wonderful plant trades and two doses of Ultraclear, my pond water is finally starting to clear up. I worked on my filter/waterfall stuff today as well as replanting about 2 dozen perennials, tropicals, canna, etc. Hopefully I will have something nice to show soon.

From the other side of the pond. You can make out the lotus pots that will be leaving soon. :O)

Yours is clearing up just as mine is turning very green with algae :~( I am hoping it will clear up again when I get more plants on the surface to shade it and compete for the nutriants. I just added two lotus and some duckweed and am expecting more plants in any time now. In the meantime it is geting so full of algae you can't see the fish anymore! Will I have to empty it out and start over to get rid of the green water or will it eventually balance out as the other plants take over?

Isn't it exciting? Mine is finally starting to clear up too. It's noticably clearer every day. I think by the end of the month it should be crystal clear.

Did you know that you can tuck bare root impatiens between the rocks and they will florish in your pond?

Zany, don't drain it. It takes a while for the cycle to get started and if you clean it out that ammonia cycle will just have to start all over again. In time it will clear and in the meantime just do a partial water change every week or two. 10% to 25% water change is what has been recommended for years.

Chele, I am so happy your pond is starting to clear up. It takes a while as you know now.

I have grown impatiens, tomatoes and cannas in my waterfall corners in the past. The tomato needs to be removed before it loses its leaves into the pond in the fall but other than that it will usually thrive on the fish nutrients.

Zany...don't drain!! Ponditis is right! Yes, the plants will help. Or, if that takes too long, get yourself some Algae Fix stuff.

My word Chelle,
it no longer looks like the Mississippi River!

Congrats!!

Hey the book sale starts Friday at Nagel.

With those 5 little ones, and a job, WHEN do you find the time? I'm simply amazed....

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I am well known for my answer to that question Darius. "I garden BECAUSE I have five children!" LOL My dad came to my house for the first time in years and could not believe the number of plants I had. My remark to him was that everyone of those plants represented a time the kids should have gotten spanked and didn't. he he he

And she never sleeps either. I think she is a robot from outerspace that doesn't have to ever shut down for repairs because she repairs herself instantly. She is like an energizer bunny too, just keeps going and going and going. LOL Wub ya Chele.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL I'll have you know I sleep four hours a night five nights and about 12 the other two. LOL

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Hey how come you are sleeping more than I am? I only get five hours almost every night of the week. Seems if I get more than that I am sick. :(

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I just don't sit down if I don't have to. But I do have to when Jazzy says so. Then I am gone for the night. LOL

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Ohhh then I am too old for my own Jazzy to put me to sleep. I need Grandkids to help me go to sleep. On second thought maybe I like my life just the way it is right now except I need you to move in next door. That farm on the hill is for sale now. You would have plenty of room for tons of little girls and even several boys up there.
