I got this aurea hybrid last year. Wonderful rich, thick leaves. Never got to see it bloom. Frost took it and only the root system survived and that only barely ... Here is what it looked like last year.
Never give up on a Brug *lol*
Well, "hello there" Nice BD present! Glad it came back, looks like one healthy, happy brug.
That is great Tonny . . I have a couple I am waiting to see if that happens to . . atleast that leaves a little hope.
... Here`s the root system ... rinsed ... just need a trimming to remove rottened parts and then its ready to be moved to a new pot *lol*
Never give up on a Brug. This one took half a year to show life signs and others took 1-4 months to recover from the frost damages so much that there came a tiny shoot. One was Ida of Sorø. She is now reduced to 10 thich main stems and the first stem has budded. Little survivers, won`t you say?
Tonny, it's been warm here since March and I'm still seeing new ones sprout each day. Sometimes they just take their own sweet time to sprout.
That was a nice BD present! Hope you get blooms this summer.
Ida of Soro is beautiful, glad she came back!!
Gloria, I was real happy that it came back. I did give up on it and wanted to throw it on the compost, then these tiny shoots was popping up and growing out of a side hole in the ground pot *lol*
Deb, just give them some time. Its not to say, if they come up or not, but I can tell you that half of those I throw on the compost in January I had to go and get in again, because they started to sprout from the roots :) I cross my fingers that your will be back and in full vigor very soon :)
Ha! Just proves...you can't put a good "brug" down!
Or, throw it away, whatever.
Tonny, that isn't Ida is it? I thought Ida was an arborea. That looks like an aurea, but of course, it's still early here. LOL
Great Tonny, I too have seen some of my brugs outside all winter, and in spring a shoot will pop up. It is always a nice surprise. I cant wait to see this one in bloom.
happy growing!!
That's really good Tonny...A Aurea group brug that literally comes back from the roots! They say only Sanguinea and it's hybrids do this! Has anyone tried root cuttings on Brugs before?
I've not tried root cuttings Bruno, but I had an awful lot of very forgettable brugs come back from the roots this year that were in the compost.
Liz, no *lol* Its an aurea hybrid. I only mentioned that Ida came back from virtualy nothing like this one, but Ida was shooting from both the remains of the stem basis and remains of the roots :) She is pretty not and have a large bud on one shoot :)
Tonny, I sure am glad you did not give up on her. Ida is a beautiful brug. Hope you get lots of blooms from her.
Eyes, that is amazing. Did this one come back from the roots? Its beautiful. Is it Dr. Suess?
Yes to both, Tony!! I'm really excited to see it bloom this year........come on baby!!
"eyes"
I have a plant in about same size with two stems and one have a tiny, tiny bud. Maybe yours will bud soon too :)
