Swimming Upstream LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Okay, well the pond is still not perfect and the water is still not clear and I still need some rocks and some plants BUT.... I think the fish are happy. LOL This is Tartar Sauce on the left and Bozo on the right, TRYING swim up stream. Think they will be dissappointed to flop into water covered gravel?? :)

Salom was my thought to haighr LOL! I have two bigger fish in my pond that do the same exact thing Badseed! Everytime I put them in the top pond , They go back down into the bottom one ( The other ones don't ) And every now and then I see them trying to swim 'Upstream Again' LOL!

Badseed, they are cute! I have read where really tame Koi will feed right out of your hand! They seem adventuresome.

Well it would be nice at some point if I could feed them, but I have those five LOUD daughters! LOL Tartar Sauce is a Shubunkin and Bozo is a Sarassa. These fish were all new to me last year. There are three koi in there but they don't surface long enough for photos. The most out of the water one is Rosie, who was renamed Flippin' Rosie cuz she is always out of the water-TOTALLY out of the water. LOL Thank goodness she lands back in the water and not on a rock or the ground. There are several more Sarassa, one more Shubinkin, an albino Catfish and also one Black Moor. We also recently discovered a bunch of babies in all kinds of sizes but right now it is hard to tell who belongs to who. LOL

Oh wow, I thought there were only Goldfish and Koi! I also read that Koi will live long and will become like pets to your family. What a treat for your girls!

You have a pond I aspire to achieve one day, but I have to start small (to convince myself I can do it!).

Love the names Tartar Sauce and Bozo....too cute. Gosh, I hope Rosie stays IN the pond! Keep us updated about the fish and photos. It is fun to watch your progress!

LOL Sue! There are a bunch of fish that can take the winters! Who would have known??? We have a black moor named Eyes, for Eyesoftexas, and also an abino catfish called kitty. Neither of them should have lived through the winter, but I did not know that before I bought them. Tartar Sauce and Valentine (has a heart on it's back) are Shubunkins. Then Flippin' Rosie, Bozo, Boobie are Sarassa. Basically they are all fancy goldfish. The last three are nameless Koi. Maybe I was supposed to name them?? LOL I guess my pond is about 3,000 gallons but I still don't have it just right. Maybe I never will. :) So is gardening...

That's the fun part, it's never finished! :-D

Chele,

My word there are fish in there!!!!
And all this time I thought you were pulling our leg w/ the fish stories!
Who knew?
I will vouch for the babies though, there are tons of them.

Here's a top shot (hope you don't mind Chele).
I was really impressed w/ the setup.
